In March 2022, the CDC created a relatively simple approach to knowing when to mask based on COVID-19 levels in each county in the country. Bp. Michael Hunn and the Diocese of the Rio Grande adopted the CDC guidelines as a framework and asked each vestry in the Diocese to decide how to implement the new guidelines. The Vestry of St. Mark's voted to follow the CDC guidelines and we sent out a mailing in March to all members to let them know that St. Mark's planned to follow the CDC guidelines. Please read the letter that was sent, attached below (or click here).

In short, St. Mark's guidelines are that if the CDC has Bernalillo County in:

  • green=masks are optional
  • yellow=masks are strongly encouraged
  • orange=masks are mandatory

The CDC updates their guidelines every Thursday evening. Last Thursday, Bernalillo County went into Orange. Masks are now mandatory until the county case levels start to go down, regardless of vaccination status. Please plan to wear a mask for any activity on St. Mark's campus or consider attending offerings virtually. Offerings and access to virtual happenings may be found on our website.

We will continue to alert the parish when COVID statuses change, but you may also check for yourself at any time by going to the COVID page on our website. Just select the state of New Mexico and Bernalillo County to get the most recent color status/masking requirements.

As a part of loving our neighbor as ourselves, we continue encourage all in our community to stay up to date with vaccines/boosters, and to take precautions when around those most-vulnerable or if you know that you have had a close contact.
