Dear St. Louis Families,
The Baptism of our Lord was celebrated this past Sunday, thus bringing us to the close of the Christmas liturgical season and back to Ordinary Time. And yet, nothing ever seems ordinary! The pace of life always seems frenzied as we juggle home life and work life with children’s schedules. We begin to see the value of routine -- this is where prayer, hope and trust are paramount as we seek to find a rhythm in the frenzy -- and when we truly look to our faith and more particularly to the example of Jesus to provide peace.
In this week, we have begun Scantron and HMH assessments for K-8 students, learned about hibernation and even practiced it in Preschool, and found ways to build each other up as we focus on the virtue of fortitude. Every where I look in our building, students and teachers are choosing JOY and the smiles are contagious. The energy is palpable, no winter doldrums for our hawks!
Today, re-registration information went live on our school website and a special constant contact went out to all current families with the information. It is never too soon to plan and I wanted to share that we are hopeful for the success of the vaccines in our community and our nation. St. Louis teachers and staff have begun the vaccination process this week. With that in mind, I wanted to share that our intention for 2021-22 is to be all in-person 5 days a week, no hybrid or virtual options will be offered. We will keep an eye on the pandemic of course, and will give priority to current families and enroll prospective families cautiously to ensure we can get all of our students into the building for instruction. For those who may feel uncomfortable with in-person instruction, the diocese does have an all virtual school, St. Isidore, which will continue to operate next year. Please send in your re-registration form and non-refundable $425 fee per child by February 12, 2021. One new addition for the 2021-22 school year is a $100 technology fee per student which will cover the use of school devices and the necessary support of those devices—this new fee is due August with tuition. We look forward to a long weekend in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., long after his death the power and eloquence of his words and vision continue to inspire us. We pray for peace, love and unity particularly as our nation transitions to a new leadership. St. Louis is in school January 20th for a regular school day; you are always welcome to keep your child home for virtual learning, but ask that you let the teachers know of your plans.
