COVID-19 GUIDANCE
Thank you to everyone for all the hard work and tremendous care you are taking to ensure our parish is as safe as possible. This diligence has proven quite successful. The Archdiocese of Seattle has celebrated about 30,000 Masses and has had ZERO cases of virus transmission during Mass. This alone demonstrates how safety protocols are working and serves as a good reminder of why we need to ensure we are always following them.

As many of you may be aware, there is a more robust and contagious variant of the coronavirus known as B.1.1.7. Recent reports indicate that it has come to our region. At this time, we continue to encourage everyone to strictly uphold all mitigation standards of mask wearing, hand hygiene, reduced time together, fresh air exchange, and physical distancing. We want to uphold our safety protocols to limit spread, help our parishioners feel safe coming to mass, and to care for the common good.
PREPARES
PREPARES is a new Bishops statewide appeal that provides pregnancy and parenting support for parents with children up to 5 years of age. Donations can be made using the button below or envelopes will be provided at the parish. This collection will be taken the weekend of February 13/14.

VIRTUAL YOUTH GROUP
ISSUES NIGHT/SAFE ENVIRONMENT - PARENTS WELCOME!
Sunday, February 7
Middle School from 4:00-5:30pm
High School from 6:00-7:30pm
We will offer one sexual abuse prevention course to your youth. In our efforts to protect our vulnerable population, the Archdiocese of Seattle has integrated abuse prevention material into our faith formation and youth ministry curriculum in the context of teaching our youth about our Catholic faith. In creating a safe space for our youth, we can teach and show them the ways of Christ in a safe environment conducive to learning. Keeping our minors and vulnerable adult’s safe starts with you. We ask that you take part in this effort in extending the Archbishop’s effort to help evangelize our youth in a safe space.

To help you understand what your youth will be offered, we ask you to visit: http://www.seattlearchdiocese.org/SEP/faithformation.aspx. This will provide you with “Parent/ Guardian Resources,” to inform you about the curriculum being used while also making available the actual lessons. As the guardian, you have the right to attend the Youth Group evening with your youth if you would like. You may also choose to skip this session. This announcement is to notify you of our initiative to provide abuse prevention curriculum to our youth in Faith Formation/Youth Ministry.
CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS COLLECTION
This special collection will take place the weekend of February 20/21. Catholic Home Missions funds catechesis, seminarian education, lay ministry training, Hispanic ministry and other pastoral programs for those parishes facing hardships due to priest shortages, lack of funds or remote locations. Your support is greatly appreciated.
WOMEN'S BOOK GROUP
Tonight, February 2 at 7:00pm
All women of the parish are invited. You do not need to read the book to come. Tonight we will discuss "Gateway to the Moon" by Mary Morris via Zoom. Email Laura, Lstanger@sjvkirkland.org, for the Zoom info.

Our book for March, "Fratelli tutti" (All Brothers) is the third encyclical of Pope Francis, subtitled "on fraternity and social friendship." In the document, Pope Francis states that the way the COVID-19 pandemic was managed by world countries has shown a failure in global cooperation. The encyclical calls for more human fraternity and solidarity, and is a plea to reject wars.

We meet at 7 PM on the first Tuesday of each month for wine, chocolate and great conversation. Contact Laura, if you would like to receive email reminders.
SONSHINE MINISTRY
The Sonshine Ministry prepares meals on a short-term basis for parishioners who are ill, recovering from surgery, elderly or with new babies. If you need help with meals, please consider a Sonshine ‘no contact’ meal delivered with our love and prayers! Please call the Parish office if interested.
THE PRIORY SPIRITUALITY CENTER

Paz Vital has a Masters in Theology with a concentration in Hispanic Ministry. She has led retreats in parishes and retreat centers.
