Water is Oklahoma’s most valuable resource. The Water and Environmental Summit is designed to bring the experts to you to share updates from agencies and learn about rules and regulations that affect your cities and towns. Insight for Elected Officials – Understanding your Role as an Elected Official

During the upcoming workshop, Bryan K. Drummond, Shareholder with Rosenstein, Fist & Ringold Law Firm will be presenting information and best practices regarding how elected officials should understand their roles.  Drummond will discuss the various types of municipal governments and the role of mayor and city council members in each: Aldermanic, City Manager, Strong Mayor, Town Board of Trustees, and Charter. In addition, he will address the subjects of how to legally conduct public meetings; the issue of nepotism and conflict of interest; how to investigate harassment complaints, dismissal and hiring issues, along with ADA/FMLA/Workers Compensation.

2020 IQC Grant Application Process Begins - Deadline is April 17 OML, along with OU's Institute for Quality Communities is offering the Quality Communities Grant Program which will assist members with up to 50% of the funding to those communities whose projects have been selected by OU's IQC for a project in their community. March 26, 2020 Great Plains Technology Center 4500 SW Lee Blvd.  Lawton, OK 73505 The NOI teaches the statutorily required topics such as Municipal Budget Requirements, the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act, the Oklahoma Open Records Act, Ethics, Procedures for Conducting Meetings, Conflict of Interest, and Purchasing Procedures. Remember, you don't have to be new to attend. Everyone is welcome!
