Happy New Year!
We hope you had a fun celebration ringing in 2021. With the new year comes new hope that life will return to some sort of normal, sooner rather than later. We'll start off with some good news from Cindy:

"A huge thank you to all who donated quilts for Laurie's House in 2020. Because we couldn't meet in person, I was concerned about the number of quilts we would be able to provide. There was no need for me to worry - I delivered 35 quilts to them, the week of Christmas! Most were baby size, but we did get some larger ones. Thank you to Kea, Karen, Betsy, Sharon, Donna, Suzanne, Marti, Joan, and so many more! Some of you dropped off finished quilts for me, with no name on them - I thank you, too. Laurie's House is always so appreciative of what we do for them.

The pile has already started for 2021, and I have lots of tops that will need quilting. If you're confident in your machine quilting, and would like to donate your time and skills to this cause, you can reach me at the shop, or at [email protected]. As most of you know, it's an ongoing project - the need never stops, and we want to keep providing the residents with beautiful quilts of their very own. So many of the quilts in 2020 were donated complete - no additional work was necessary - and that made things so much easier. We at Yankee Pride thank you all for your kindness and generosity."

The flow of new fabric arriving has slowed a bit, but there are plenty of things that are coming in the next few months. Judy is still stocking up on basics, and adding some fun things when she can.

We're starting to get questions about classes - until the pandemic is over, we will not be holding any classes at the shop. We want to help you learn, but the safety of both customers and staff is the most important thing to us. If you're working on a project and get stuck, or have questions, feel free to call us or bring in said project - we'll do our best to help you. For learning new things, for now, YouTube is your friend. We're even using it from time to time!

The usual reminder if you are coming to see us:

*Masks are mandatory, for both customers and staff.
*Please sanitize at the door when you come in. Your hands must be completely dry before you can touch the fabric.
*Store capacity is 4 customers at once.
*We will remain closed on Sundays until further notice.

We continue to process both orders to ship and Store Pickups, so feel free to shop online. Cindy has put more than 2,200 bolts of our inventory on the website, and Marti has added thread, books, and patterns. We're doing our very best to make your Yankee Pride experience a good one, whether you're walking among the bolts or shopping from your couch.

Quilt-Along with Judy

Our Quilt-Along is coming to a close soon - Judy is assembling her Blue Boardwalk top, which we'll be posting once it's finished.

Judy is almost finished with Blue Boardwalk, by Diane Nagle (at left). She has reworked the pattern using Studio 180's Wing Clipper II and Tucker Trimmer II. Those instructions are available now, by clicking here. You can print them out for yourself, and be on your way!

This week, Judy's progress with all of her blocks was posted on our social media channels. She's moving right along, and is assembling her quilt top right now.

 Block of the Month Projects

Update: "Nebula" has begun! There is still some room in the group if you want to sign up, so if you need some bright colors and a new project, give us a call to sign up.

Update: "American Glory" has begun! The fabric finally arrived, and Marti got everything organized and ready to go. There is also some room left in this BOM - our sample quilt is hanging in the shop, and is much prettier than a simple photo, so stop in and see it.

Coming soon: "Amish With a Twist"
This Nancy Rink design will be our next BOM, and we're twisting it a bit more - we'll be using Moda "Grunge" instead of solids in the quilt! Look for more information in future issues of the newsletter.

Recent Fabric Arrivals

These are the highlights of recent arrivals. Click on the photo for a closeup, and click here if you're interested in purchasing any of these fabrics by the yard on our website:

Redwork Gathering

from Primitive Gatherings

by Moda

The positive and the negative - they're both here, in fabric. One makes a lovely background, and the other works for piecing and borders. You get to decide which is which, depending on your color sense and style.

Novelty prints

by Robert Kaufman

Yes, you're seeing that correctly - we have camouflage fabric (bottom in photo)! Kaufman has introduced some camo, so Judy made sure she ordered it. We have one bolt right now, and a slightly different colorway will arrive later, in the spring. The photo at the top is an old-fashioned world map print - it's pretty cool to take a close look at locations across the world that now have completely different names.

More novelty prints

by Robert Kaufman

We've had lots of fabric requests in the last 9 months, especially after we sold out of so many of our novelty prints during our closure. The rainbow stripe (left in photo) arrived the other day, as did the new soccer print (right in photo). Whether you're still making masks or have moved on in your sewing, you can always tuck these two into your stash.

Darlene's Favorites

from Darlene Zimmerman

by Robert Kaufman

1930s prints tend to hang around for a while, and when they do sell, it's normally small amounts. As online business picked up last spring, we found that people were ordering lots of 30s prints, and in pieces larger than 1/4 yard, so now our inventory is a bit low. Judy is restocking with some classic prints, and some pretty new ones, too.

Flowerhouse Basics

from Debbie Beaves

by Robert Kaufman

As you can see, these basic dot prints will be very useful in many of your projects. You can throw a pretty dot into almost any quilt you're making - it adds color, some texture, and even a bit of whimsy. There are lots here to choose from!

Thank you, as always, for your business, and thank you for being our customer. We love that you still believe in shopping local!
