Masks Required in SUSD Buildings as of Friday, August 20th
The Governing Board voted 4-1 in favor of a mask mandate for students, staff, and visitors inside all SUSD buildings on August 17th, 2021. It will go into effect on Friday, August 20th. If students violate the rule, it will count as a dress code violation.

WATER! WATER! WATER!
Please purchase or borrow a water bottle (insulated preferred) for your student and fill with cold water and ice each day if possible. We highly recommend that the bottle is at least 24oz. Water fountains are off but water filling stations will be available on campus for refills. The district is providing water bottles for students to use in emergencies and when they need refills. Let us try not to flood landfills with more plastic water bottles.

We thank you for being courteous drivers. We understand it's a stressful 15 minutes. It's important to keep students safe as they walk from cars & the parking lot.
Student Parking Off Campus
- Do not park in Safeway parking lot. Students WILL BE TOWED -
Please remind students to park legally and safely in the surrounding neighborhood. We strive to be good neighbors, and we rely on parents to help their students understand what it means to be courteous and safe drivers/parkers.
Water Fountains Turned Off - Bring Water Bottles
Drinking fountains will be turned off until further notice for SUSD Covid mitigation plan. Water-filling stations are available to ensure that students are able to remain well-hydrated. Students are encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottles.

EARLIER DATES NOW AVAILABLE FOR ONE LUNCH VOLUNTEERS
AHS One Lunch is BACK + we need your help!
Can you lend a hand at Arcadia at lunchtime? We planned for One Lunch volunteers to start on September 2, but we just learned that the district is allowing us to start earlier - and the cafeteria staff needs our help. We added dates to the SignUpGenius starting today (August 16). Volunteers will report to the office at 11:30 and will help out as needed during lunch. You do not need to sign up for a recurring shift - you can sign up for one or a few. This is a fun and rare way to be on campus - please grab a friend and sign up. PLEASE NOTE that volunteers must be fully vaccinated and wear a mask while on campus. More information about what volunteers will be doing is included on the SignUp. Scottsdale Parent Council Meeting TONIGHT
Our first General Meeting on Wednesday, August 18th from 6:00-7:30pm will include an extended Q&A with Dr. Menzel. Then we will hear about the role of SPC School Representatives and other ways for parents to get involved.

| 10/1 - FAFSA Opens
11/1 - Early Application Deadline for many colleges |
- The Common Application essay prompts are available and your students should begin to craft multiple essays NOW, over the summer, to be used for various admission and scholarship applications.
- JULY 1st - Some Rolling Decision schools start accepting applications, and in general the sooner you apply the letter.

JULY 31st - Your student can start filling out the Common Application profile now. Everything in the Common App tab is saved in the rollover on July 31 each year. None of the college-specific questions - short answers and essays - will rollover.
- AUGUST 1st - The Common Application opens
- OCTOBER 1st - Both the CSS Profile and the FAFSA applications open up October 1. Most schools DO NOT run out of endowment money. There is no race to get your FAFSA submitted the day it opens, but we softly urge parents to complete the FAFSA in a timely manner in the weeks following October 1.
- OCTOBER 15th - A few regular admissions schools are accepting applications now, most do not.
- NOVEMBER 1st + 15th - Early Decision and Early Action applications usually have a Nov 1 or Nov 15 deadline but CAN be as in October.
- MAY 1st - National Decision Day is the day you will need to put a deposit down on the college your teen has decided to attend.

Attention Student Athletes,
Per new District Policy, any student-athlete needs to complete the following in order to participate in tryouts, practices, or off season workouts: - 21-22 AIA Physical Form (done yearly)
- Brainbook Concussion Course
- Opioid Education Course
These can be completed in, "Register My Athlete", you may sign-in or create an account HERE. If students are not coded in 'Register My Athlete' as "Ready for Tryouts" , coaches cannot allow athletes to participate. In season athletes will not receive their equipment until Athletic Fees are paid. Athletic Fees may be paid online HERE or by CASH or CHECK in the Arcadia High School Bookstore. Once payment is made, you must bring in a copy of your receipt to the Athletic Office OR email it to kcobb@susd.org. We are looking forward to an exciting year of Arcadia Athletics!
