MAIZE WAY CHARACTER TRAIT
February is HONESTY
Speaking the truth....keeping your promises....being trustworthy and reliable....being sincere in both actions and words....doing what you know is right.
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Vermillion Chameleon Parents,
It was great to see many of you at conferences. It is hard to believe that we are nearing the last quarter of this school year. Our PTO and VES parents provided a delicious supper for our staff during conferences. The food was amazing. Thank you!
Next month we are starting a new concept called Vermillion Families. Students will be assigned a family group at school (groups of 12) that will meet one Friday a month for 30 minutes. Each time students meet with their family, they will have a fun, planned activity such as a board game, scavenger hunt or art project. These groups will consist of students across every grade level. The family leader and students in each family will stay consistent from year to year. Our hope is that the family concept will help connect our students and staff together even more.
Have a safe and fun spring break!

Michael Dome
VES Principal

COUNSELOR's CORNER
As we prepare for spring coming and spending time outside, remember to have conversations with your child about safety of all types (bicycle safety, stranger-danger and being aware of surroundings). The more we can show children we care and offer ideas for being safe, the more they feel secure in knowing how to handle life situation. Having a set time each day to spend with your child is a great way to start conversations and have quality time together.

Enjoy your time with family!

Flu season is upon us, so if you or your child/children have not had their flu shot, now is the time to get one! See the chart below showing the differences between influenza and the common cold.
Remember, if your student is running a fever of 100.0 degrees or above, they are to remain at home. If diagnosed with influenza, your student needs to stay in home isolation for 5 days following the onset of symptoms or until fever free for 24 hours without the aid of fever reducing medications, whichever is longer, except when seeking medical care.
