RED MONTH, RED TRUCK: A Partner's Expansion

February is the month for valentines, roses, and "Wear Red Day" so it's an appropriate month to explain Park View's partnership with the Red Truck Ministry, a mobile pantry operated by the Lynchburg Baptist Association.
The truck got its name from its former life as a Coca-Cola truck, and went into service in 2017 to take a pantry to some of the eight "food deserts" in the city. When Park View acquired space in the lower level of the Plaza for our Food for Thought warehouse in 2018, part of the space was set aside at no cost so the Red Truck Ministry could store and organize the food they collected.
In late January the ministry expanded its capacity to keep perishables, thanks to funds from the Roger Roller Evangelistic Association. A Kelvinator commercial cooler, along with its companion freezer unit, was installed in the "red truck" room (which is actually blue!). This will enable more nutritious food to be delivered to more neighbors.
Progress in the Process!
