President's Message
From our President, Bernadette Kessler

We are truly excited about the prospect of new opportunities this year.  Thanks to our dedicated chairpersons and their committees, a year of recitals, festivals, workshops, competitions, community outreach events, and scholarship opportunities has been planned. We are very grateful for the unwavering commitment of our members, sponsors, and underwriters.

Our world is ever-changing and to ensure that our events are successful, we will continue to be guided by our county and CDC recommendations in holding in-person events. We are prepared to hold virtual events and will provide email reminders and calendar updates as additions, changes, and cancellations are determined. Thank you for supporting CNYAMT.

CNYAMT has established a Student Lesson Tuition Assistance Fund to provide monetary assistance for students in need. These funds can be applied towards payment of private music lessons and will be evenly dispersed among applicants. The amount of the award is based on our availability of funds, as well as the applicant’s referral from their CNYAMT teacher. Awards will be distributed across applications on a rotating basis, one student at a time, per teacher.

Eligibility:
  • Teacher must be a current CNYAMT 2021-22 member.
  • Teacher and student are active participants in our yearly events.
  • Teacher must be the instructor of the major instrument the applicant will study.

The application is due, one for each student, by September 20, 2021.

Friday Forums

Friday Forums have been a wonderful way for CNYAMT members to get to know each other and share in the collective wisdom, expertise, and sense of humor in our community of teachers.

They are scheduled on the 2nd Friday of each month throughout the school year. Our first Friday Forum is scheduled for Friday, October 8th, 2021 at 12:00 pm. Please note the new time and refer to the CNYAMT Calendar for our monthly dates.

Our last forum on August 13th was specially hosted by Michelle Wilcox who led a discussion on issues relevant to instrumental teachers. Feel free to contact Mary Whittington with topics you'd like to discuss. Please join us for stimulating conversation and virtual camaraderie!

Previous forum topics are posted on our website under Friday Forum!
