Hello Friends!
In May we celebrated Small Business Week and in June, the celebrations continue (scroll through the graphics for details).
We celebrate PRIDE with the Art of Pride exhibit and experiences at WORK_SPACE including Saturday's Rainbow Pop-up, part of CT Open House Day (June 11). You are also invited to Celebrate Manchester (through June 12), Juneteenth (Family friendly events 6/18 from 4-18) and the return of the Spruce St. Farmer's Market. A
nd on a personal note, my siblings and I feel very lucky to celebrate our parents 59th Anniversary (June 9).
For those of you celebrating Anniversaries, Birthdays, Graduations and/or the opportunity to take a summer vacation, ENJOY!
These celebrations, milestones and rituals are an important way to mark the transformation of time, relationships and psychological development - of individuals and communities. Rituals help us evolve the ordinary into something extraordinary; to infuse our experiences with significant emotion and special meaning.
In his 1975 book, Re-visioning Ppsychology, American psychologist James Hillman asserted that “to ritualize a literal action, we ‘put soul into it’ . . . [and] as we go into a ritual, the soul of our actions ‘comes out.’”
By intentionally celebrating special moments and making moments special by celebrating, we mitigate the risk of rituals becoming habits, the specialness that surrounds us becoming mundane and the work we do and lives we live lacking soul.
At WORK_SPACE we work to nurture the soul of our members, the spirit of our entrepreneurs and the specialness of our community.
Thank you for being part of what we do.
Stacey Zackin, WORK_SPACE Manager
