Sign Up for a Small Group

Registration is now open for two great small group opportunities:

  1. All Saints' Connects Small Groups (spiritual growth-focused)
  2. Neighborhood Connections Groups (social-focused)

We invite you to sign up for one or both!
Dear saints,

Might this be a time for you to build community? It’s a question on my heart this new year as I listen to families with children, people living alone, those of us whose professional lives have been upended this past year – all of whom have told stories of stress, strain, and longing for the relief and support of loving human company. At the same time, we also turn the page in our American story and are invited anew to find unity and commonality with one another.

In all of this, the church offers us ways to meet this present hour by inviting us to build community with those we know because of the life we share in Christ. May I invite you to prayerfully consider finding deeper community this new year at All Saints’? You are warmly welcome to join my Adult Inquirer’s Class for newcomers, join an All Saints’ Connects small group, or help build community where you live with our new Neighborhood Connections ministry starting across the city this new year.

We are more together than we could ever be alone. What a gift it is to share and be inspired by community with you, the saints.

Peace,
Simon Mainwaring

Adult Formation Classes
This Strange and Sacred Scripture
Sundays, January 10, 17, 24, February 7, 14, and 21, 9:00-9:55 a.m., on Zoom
The Old Testament can seem strange, even disturbing, for many Christians. Drawing on biblical scholarship and pastoral insights, this course offers strategies for reading and responding to the Old Testament in ways that are both faithful and constructive.

In partnership with The Candler Foundry, an initiative of the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

The MICAH Project: Race and the Episcopal Church, Part I
Sundays, January 10, 17, and 24, 9:00-9:55 a.m., on Zoom
Session 3: Sewanee Back in Time: Race, Slavery, and the First Century of the University of the South with Woody Register

This session will put the University of the South (Sewanee), the land and community in which it is embedded, and the Episcopal Church that nurtured and sustained it over generations “back in time” by exploring its roots in pro-slavery Christianity and its development as a promoter of Jim Crow and the “Lost Cause.” In doing so, we will consider the role of the Roberson Project on Slavery, Race, and Reconciliation in revising the story we tell about this University and its mission in the past, present, and future.

Woody Register is the Francis S. Houghteling Professor of American History and director of the Roberson Project at the University of the South.

All Saints' 101
Sundays, January 10, 17, and 24, 9:00-9:55 a.m., on Zoom
Session 3: Saints in Service with the Rev. Sarah Stewart

In the final session of this series, the Rev. Sarah Stewart will consider a Christian framework for service and social justice. Learn about All Saints' core ministries and the stories behind them and hear about the many opportunities to get involved in serving our neighbors here in Atlanta and beyond.

Jesus on the Front Page
Sundays (ongoing), 9:00-9:55 a.m., on Zoom
Join this ongoing discussion of the news of the day and how we are called as Christians to respond in the public arena, in our private lives, and in our prayers.

Parenting with God
Sunday, January 24, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., on Zoom
Join Kathy Roberts, Director of Children's Ministries, and fellow parents each month and receive articles/book chapters to read as you desire. The monthly conversations focus on "parenting" and how our faith can provide a path and support us along the journey.

Please email Kathy Roberts at [email protected] to register for this Zoom meeting.
The Journey
Wednesdays, 10:00-11:00 a.m., on Zoom
The Bible is full of journeys: short, long, searching, moving, fleeing and more. Things happen on these journeys: lives are changed, new directions are found; and through it all, "the feeling remains that God is on the journey, too” -Teresa of Avila. The Journey is a Bible study exploring the biblical journeys and what they have to say about our own.

On Reflection
Wednesdays, 6:00-6:30 p.m., on Facebook
Join our clergy for a short piece of theologically informed social commentary. We’ll think about God and the world, and what it is like to live faithfully in it.

Next Sunday
Faith in the City: Health and Equity with Dr. Camara Phyllis Jones

Sunday, January 31, 9:00-9:55 a.m., on Facebook and Vimeo
Join the Revs. Simon Mainwaring and Natosha Reid Rice in conversation with Dr. Camara Phyllis Jones, as they explore the theme of ‘Health and Equity’ and the kind of social contract Christians in particular are called to co-create with regards to the wellness of all people.

Service and Social Justice
Provide a Meal for the Men of Covenant Community

Available dates: February 1, 8, and 15

In this year of new beginnings, we invite your help with Monday dinners for Covenant Community. Sharing a meal with the men inside the community is still not possible, but a supportive procedure is in place. Until further notice, dinner can be dropped off at CCI’s front door on Spring Street any time during the day. After dinner, the men would very much like to do a Zoom meeting with the parishioner(s) so that everyone could virtually get together. Your participation will be very much appreciated.

Parish Life Events
Neighborhood Connections Groups

Our *new* Neighborhood Connections Groups invite everyone to engage in fun, social activities with saints who live nearby, such as sharing a cup of coffee on a porch, taking a cooking class over Zoom, or going for a walk or hike together.

All participants will receive a free "Love Lives Here" yard sign (pictured above)!

Registration Now Open: All Saints’ Connects Small Groups

All Saints' Connects Small Groups are gearing up again!

Whether you choose our monthly groups (once monthly for six months) or the classic weekly track (once weekly for six weeks, offered in Lent), we look forward to growing spiritually with you!

Jezebels: Women's Book Study

Wednesdays, 5:00-6:00 p.m., on Zoom

Jezebels is a women’s reading group that has met continuously for 16 years. We read a variety of fiction, nonfiction, plays, and poetry, deeply exploring each selection over a period of weeks.

Contemplative Prayer

Wednesdays, 7:00-8:00 p.m., on Zoom

We learn about this centuries-old practice, reflect on relevant readings, and enter into holy silence in the discipline of centering prayer, offering another way to build communities of faith that bond us in mutual friendship and Christ’s love. All are welcome, from novices to longtime practitioners.

Giving
Your pledge is more than a pledge. It is a lifeline!
  • Our beloved sexton team continues a routine of cleaning the church buildings each week and picking up trash that blows around our windy streets even though we are not there.
  • Louisa Merchant helps refugee families fill out forms for school, access the American medical system, acquire a car and get it registered. With Louisa on board, the right translator can be hired and families experience welcome in a city that helps them heal from the trauma they have experienced.
  • All Saints’ supplies the space for Recovery Resources of Atlanta Midtown which is a day program where hundreds of men in recovery check in with counselors and coaches online.
Wait no longer to make your pledge, visit allsaintsatlanta.org/give. So many depend on it. Thank you!

Four Ways to Give:
  1. Mail in a check. We receive the mail at the church each day at 634 West Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30308.
  2. Pay online with a credit card. Click here to fill out the online form.
  3. Create a login for ACCESS:AllSaints’ and set up pledge payments, gifts, and recurring gifts from credit cards or a bank account. This feature also opens our online directory to you. You can view your own annual giving records and easily find phone numbers for friends you might want to contact. Plus, you can use this same login to access a free mobile app called Churchlife that allows you to give from your phone and connect with others in the parish. From the Candler Foundry

Faith in Conflict: Dealing with Legacy with the Rev. Dr. Gary Mason

Wednesdays, January 27 through March 3, 5:30-7:00 p.m., on Zoom
Explore the historical and theological roots of one of the world's longest running conflicts- the Troubles of Northern Ireland- and how a community of faith helped build peace and pursue reconciliation. With this perspective, we will consider what these stories can teach us about dealing with legacy in a deeply divided United States and wrestle with the concept of what is the role of people of faith in rebuilding and repairing conflicted societies.

This course is offered by The Candler Foundry; the cost to participate is $75.

Another big thank you to everyone who donated gifts and food gift cards to the families we serve through Refugee Ministries. And a very special thanks to all who have served as online tutors for former refugee students over the past few months.
