23rd Annual Corporate Challenge Selling Fast

Registration is underway for our 23rd annual Corporate Challenge. So far eight major sponsors and 33 teams have registered to participate.

Corporate Challenge is a fun day of networking and team building, all while raising money for the Westchase District Community Fund (WDCF). Since its beginning, the Corporate Challenge has raised more than $280,000 for area charities, including Quillian Center's summer day camps. The money is distributed by the WDCF.

Teams are made up of four to six members (co-ed) who compete in six different athletic events, including  dodge ball, soccer, a basketball shooting event and our regionally-famous briefcase relay.

Special thanks to our major sponsors:
We're particularly grateful to our friends at Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam who have signed on our Title Sponsor for the second year in a row.

Daido Billed As One of City's Top International Grocers

Daido is Houston's top grocer for foods from Japan.
Even a brief closure late last fall didn't keep Daido Market Houston from topping the  Houston Chronicle's latest list of ethnic grocery stores in Houston.

The beloved store reopened in December after store manager Toyo Hagiwara enlisted help from investors. Ensuring that the city's first major Japanese grocer didn't close forever has thrilled loyal customers, and new ones. Located at 11146 Westheimer Road (at Wilcrest Drive), Daido serves one of the most diverse cultural cities in the U.S. and is a local Asian food market favorite. Since returning, Hagiwara's noticed more fresh faces at checkout.

"Everyone is elated that we are back," said Hagiwara. "The break gave us a chance for a refresh. We upgraded our shelves for easier product navigation and added more authentic Japanese items."
