We are reprinting this social media post. It is from the heart and sums up how most pub owners and small business owners feel. We are fortunate, we are still here and we will be around to laugh, visit and work together during the brave new 2021 that is coming our way!
Happy New Year to all our friends and Readers,

A Message To All Our Friends & Readers
DAVID COPLEY, Publican at the Auld Dubliner
After 16 years of celebrating in person this year we are going virtual. Little did we know in 2004 how the small local gathering to celebrate Irish New year would grow into the celebration it has. I have said it often over the past 3-4 years, but I'll say it again. This event is my favorite few hours yearly in the pub. It is exactly the reason I got into the pub business. In Irish terms the craic is mighty. Translated: the comradery, the family, the friendships being celebrated are honest, genuine and spontaneous. Grandparents, parents and grandkids all together having fun, eating and drinking, dancing and singing. It's what a real Irish pub is all about. It's not the décor, nor the beer, nor the whiskey selection, nor the menu, nor the location, it's the wholesome atmosphere of folks simply enjoying life. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart to each and every one of you for making that happen.
2020 was a rough year for all of us. The Auld Dubliner was no exception. Closed the day before St Patrick's day. Looted and damaged May 31st. Open, closed and repeated since then. But throughout all of that there was one shining light. Our customers, our locals, our friends. Thank you all so much. Thank you for the kind words. The kind gestures. The patronage. The support. The manual labor to clan and repair the looting damage. Thank you for the words of support. ( Literally thousands after the looting incident) Thank you for the concern for our staff . Thank you for being you. Thank you for making this year bearable.
To next year.
Go raibh mile maith agaibh ! Athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh !
