February Student Spotlight: Kansas Service & Civic Engagement Conference
This weekend, some KU students participated in the Kansas Service and Civic Engagement Conference, hosted by Johnson County Community College.

We're so proud of our amazing students who shared their service experiences with their peers from across the state!

The Kansas Service & Civic Engagement Conference focuses on how students in the region can create change in their communities through different avenues of service, active citizenship, and collaborative partnerships.
February Event Spotlight: Educate & Act: Civic Engagement in 2020
"Educate & Act: Civic Engagement in 2020" is a three-part series of events leading up to the national presidential election in Fall 2020, featuring experts on different aspects of US democracy and centers opportunities for civic engagement.

Part II: The Voting Process will take place on Tuesday, March 3rd at 5:30 pm in The Commons (Spooner Hall, 1340 Jayhawk Blvd.).

During this event, local experts (Alejandro Rangel-Lopez, KU Student; Kelly Whitten, KU State Relations; Jamie Shaw, Douglas County Clerk; and Patrick Miller, KU Department of Political Science) will address the following questions: What are the primaries like in Kansas? How can I vote if I'm away from home? How can I participate in advance voting? What are the important deadlines that I need to know What are trends in voter turnout on campuses? What should I expect to see in my polling place? How does a KU affiliation affect my involvement?

We hope you join us on Tuesday to learn more about the
voting process! Visit our Educate & Act Facebook Event
for more info and updates.

Upcoming Opportunity:
CSL Service Showcase + Celebration
Mark your calendar for the CSL's annual Service Showcase and Celebration on April 30, 2020 from 3:30-5pm in the Kansas Union Ballroom! This is an opportunity for us to celebrate another year of incredible service projects and partnerships with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.

In past years, students have presented about projects they completed for a service learning or capstone class, alternative breaks experience, student organization service projects, and even student-led initiatives developed from scratch.

Students will have the opportunity to submit a poster presentation proposals soon, so start thinking about a project you've done this year or are working on this semester that serves a public good!
