Chaney-Reager Funeral Home and Crematory is being honored as the Logan County Chamber of Commerce Business of the Week. Accepting the honor were Ed Halouska, Amalia Halouska, Syliva Gertge and Ken Koester, Bob Knudson is also on staff at the funeral home.
....The Jackson Mortuary was founded in 1900 by A.D. Jackson and T.D. Ritchie. In 1915, Mr. Jackson purchased the controlling interests. In 1930 a new building was erected at their current location of 443 S. 2nd Street by A. D. Jackson. Robert M. Jackson entered the mortuary business with his father in 1935. The funeral home was renamed A. D. Jackson and Son Mortuary. Bob Jackson operated the mortuary from 1946 until 1959.
....Richard and Caroline Walters and Russ and Carolyn Chaney then purchased the business and changed the name to Walters-Chaney Funeral Home. In 1960 the building, chapel and family rooms were remodeled. In 1971 Russ and Carolyn Chaney purchased the firm from the Walters and became sole owners of the Chaney-Walters Funeral Home in 1971.
....Russ and Carolyn Chaney formed a partnership with Mike and Susie Reager in 1999. This partnership created a name change - Chaney-Reager Funeral Home & Mortuary - and a new addition was built on the funeral home to provide on-site crematory
....In 2012, Ed Halouska joined the team. In June 2019, Ed and his wife Amalia purchased the business from Mike and Susie Reager. Ed started his service to families in 1994 working at a local funeral home and he graduated from mortuary college in 1999. He is a Colorado state certified Mortuary Science Practitioner, holds an AA of Mortuary Science and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer for the state of Nebraska.
....In 2020, video and streaming capabilities wereinstalled for families to view the services online. Their firm provides a large selection of onsite caskets, urns, and funeral and cremation products.

Wastewater and COVID-19 Monitoring

Colorado Minimum Wage
Increases On Jan. 1, 2021
Effective Jan1, 2021, the minimum wage in Colorado will increase from $12.00 to $12.32 per hour. Tipped Employee Minimum Wage will increase from $8.98 to $9.30 per hour. If you have questions about this change, please contact the Colorado Division of Labor Standards and Statistics at 1-888-390-7936. Also as 2020 draws to a close, businesses are required to update their labor laws posters. While there are many sites where laminated versions can be purchased, posters can be accessed and printed free of charge.
