A start time of 9:00 AM for the 138th Convention has now been finalized. The Zoom meeting room and live stream will open about an hour in advance, but the meeting itself will begin at 9:00 AM on the morning of Saturday, February 13. We have every reason to believe that Convention will be drawing to a close by noon.

Reminder: Nominations and resolutions for Convention are due by January 29th at 5:00 PM. If you plan to submit either of the two, be sure to do so by the deadline or they will not be considered.

Even though the registration information sent to delegates for Convention said there is no cost, that is not quite true. We are not renting space, we are not hosting meals, we are not bringing in speakers – all of which cuts the cost significantly. However, we have hired a consultant to handle the technical aspects and there are other miscellaneous costs – still the total cost is much lower than usual. The nature of this Convention is so different that the Executive Council made the decision to cover the cost of Convention rather than to pass the costs on to the parishes and/or delegates.  

We do have a suggestion, though – since parishes and delegates are saving the money, we invite you to consider donating the amount that would normally be spent (or more) to the Journey Through East Carolina, which is benefitting our own Trinity Center. As is widely known, the pandemic has hit Trinity Center especially hard. Those who engage in the work of governance in the Diocese of East Carolina have been diligently working to help keep Trinity Center afloat, but so much more is needed. Please consider passing your “savings” along to Trinity Center by way of Journey Through East Carolina. You may do so by clicking the button below.

The Episcopal Farmworker Ministry is currently hosting a training program called Beloved Neighbors. The focus of this training is on history, race, and immigration.

The training consists of six online sessions, via Zoom, at 3pm on Tuesdays.

“From Many, One: Conversations Across Difference” is a campaign inviting Episcopalians and our neighbors to engage in one-to-one listening and sharing across the many differences that separate us. The conversations center on four questions: What do you love? What have you lost? Where does it hurt? What do you dream?

Anyone can join in these life-changing conversations, by engaging one on one, exploring the questions in small groups, and talking with people of different ages and backgrounds. In so doing, we begin to discover how our differences make us stronger as the human family of God.

Here you'll find explanations for each of the questions, suggestions on going deeper, and additional resources to keep your conversations going.

During this time, we will be checking in and sharing ideas/resources for Lent and Easter.

We lament all those whose lives were lost during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our hearts break for all of the people who are no longer with us. We also lament other losses that include jobs and livelihoods, the opportunity to travel to visit loved ones and the ability to worship together in our church buildings. So much was lost, with little or no time to lament that which was lost. Because of the magnitude of these collective losses, Episcopal Relief and Development decided to focus on lament as the theme for the 2021 Lenten Meditations. 

You are invited to meditate on these reflections daily by resting, reflecting, repenting, and ultimately being restored to God and to one another.
