Generations United is hiring a Public Policy & Advocacy Coordinator who will coordinate its public policy and advocacy initiatives and collaborate with the intergenerational program and National Center on Grandfamilies teams. Someone with a minimum of two years of experience in public policy and/or issues affecting children, youth and/or older adults will be a good fit for this position.
The Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network is seeking a new Project Assistant to support the work of the first-ever national technical assistance center on grandfamilies and kinship families. This is a wonderful opportunity for a recent college grad who is interested in improving supports and services for kinship families and wants to start their career at a unique and supportive organization.

Please join us in welcoming Rev. Jason to Generations United's team, where he serves as our new Communications Specialist. He helps orchestrate communications across the organization. The Champaign, Ill. native was a journalist throughout Illinois for nearly 20 years before working for various nonprofits.
Rev. Jason, an ordained United Church of Christ minister, has provided messaging and thought leadership for national faith-based advocacy organizations. He also produces freelance content for various publications and has done some podcasting. Being a member of a grandfamily--his great-grandmother raised him--drew him to Generations United. Diverse Intergenerational Program Profile: Koreatown Storytelling Program |
As part of our Diverse Intergenerational Programs Initiative, Generations United is spotlighting outstanding intergenerational programs in diverse communities around the country. The first program we are profiling is the Koreatown Storytelling Program, an oral history and media project connecting high school journalists and community elders in Los Angeles’s majority Asian and LatinX Koreatown neighborhood. Are you a family caregiver of a child or youth with disabilities? |
ARCH is partnering with the National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC), Georgetown University, to conduct listening sessions with racially, ethnically, culturally and linguistically diverse family caregivers of children/youth and adults with disabilities, and older adults, to learn about their experiences with respite services. An updated version of a longstanding resource put forth by Generations United and previously supported by The Brookdale Foundation, this document is designed to serve as a general resource for anyone who is interested in learning more about grandfamilies and kinship families. The end of the document contains links to additional resources. A Spanish-language version is coming soon!

Think Intergenerational - Funding Opportunities |
|
Power of Youth Challenge: Serve This Summer Grants are available to young people who are currently residing in the United States and between the ages of 13 and 19 years old. The grants support service projects that are youth-led and respond to an identified need in your community. Projects should not be overtly political in nature and/or relate to a specific political party. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. Learn more.
The Administration for Community Living in the Department of Health and Human Services is offering State Program Enhancement Grants to support approaches that build on advancements made under previous Lifespan Respite Care Program grants. Applications are due by June 14, 2022. Learn more.
The Administration for Community Living in the Department of Health and Human Services is also offering grants to new states and states re-establishing their core respite infrastructures. Applications are due by June 17, 2022. Learn more.
The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health in the Department of Health and Human Services is offering a grant called Demonstrating Effective Policies to Promote Black Youth Mental Health. Applications are due by June 22, 2022. Learn more.
The Administration for Children & Families in the Department of Health and Human Services offers the Maternity Group Home grant to support the provision of safe, stable, and appropriate shelter for pregnant or parenting youth. The focus is on youth ages 16 through 21 and their dependent children for 18 months and, under extenuating circumstances, up to 21 months. Service providers must accommodate for the needs and safety of the dependent children, including facility safety standards for infants and children on the premises. Supported group homes may provide services including, but not limited to, parenting skills, child development, family budgeting, and health and nutrition education. The Tepa Native American Scholarship Fund was established to build personal and lasting relationships with students who will become the future leaders in Native American communities and possibly with the Tepa Companies, which are wholly owned subsidiaries of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians. The National Endowment for the Arts is accepting applications for Grants for Arts Projects and Our Town. The Grants for Arts Projects program supports public engagement with, and access to, various forms of art across the nation, the creation of art, learning in the arts at all stages of life, and the integration of the arts into the fabric of community life. Our Town supports activities that integrate arts, culture, and design into local efforts that strengthen communities. The application deadline for Grants for Arts Projects is July 7, 2022. Community Care Corps is a national program that works to increase the number of volunteer programs available at the local level to provide non-medical care to older adults, persons with disabilities, and family caregivers. Community Care Corps has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for innovative local models in which volunteers assist family caregivers or directly assist older adults or adults with disabilities with non-medical care to maintain their independence. The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) and the Office of Minority Health (OMH) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services have released a funding opportunity called Community-Driven Approaches to Address Factors Contributing to Structural Racism in Public Health. USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) announced a $20 million cooperative agreement funding opportunity for an academic or nonprofit organization to improve participation and retention in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, commonly known as WIC. Sharing Our Space: A Toolkit for Developing and Enhancing Intergenerational Shared Sites is designed for individuals and organizations interested in creating an intergenerational shared site or enhancing services at their current site. Divided into 10 sections, the toolkit details every step of the development and operation process, from initial planning to sustaining long-term shared site programs. Learn more.
Making the Case for Intergenerational Programs provides rationale and facts to help make the case for intergenerational programs. It is based on a comprehensive review of the literature on intergenerational programs and highlights evidence-based findings on how intergenerational programs benefit everyone. Staying Healthy Across Generations: Vaccines are Essential for All Ages is an infographic that illustrates that vaccines aren't just for kids - they protect all generations - especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
