To the community:

We are reaching out to you today in light of the increase in COVID-19 positivity rates.

We protect you and you protect us.

As we move toward the end of 2020, we want to take a moment and wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season. With that being said, the Jewish Federation of Omaha and its agencies take this pandemic very seriously.

We have continued to operate our organization as a service to the community and we want to continue operating so you have a place to come to work out. We need you to be mindful of the responsibility we all have to keep each other safe.

Throughout our organization, we have followed and, when possible, exceeded the recommendations of our city, county, and state. Currently, with the mask mandate in Omaha and the flexibility of some of the restrictions as they relate to fitness centers, we require everyone on our campus to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and use proper hand washing techniques. As of now, the only place masks are not required is in our fitness center, gym, and group exercise studios during active exercise.

We will add that we adhere to the current occupancy restrictions of 25% capacity. For our fitness center, that equates to about 100 people at one time. The high ceilings and a ventilation system with a Merv filter rating of 13 also helps circulate the air in a similar manner to being outside. The exercise machines are set up for social distancing as well as regular sanitizing of the fitness equipment. In addition, a limited number of participants (through a reservation system) can attend group exercise classes. We recommend participants wear masks when possible in these classes.

All JFO/JCC staff are required to wear masks as they train and teach classes. Again, we encourage everyone to do the same. We have masks available if you forget yours. To protect yourself and others, we highly recommend you wear them while working out, taking one of our classes, or on the pool deck (unless you are swimming). Masks are required in the locker rooms except when showering.

Again, thank you for your support during these challenging times.

Sincerely,
Alan Potash, JFO CEO
