Respect Life Ministry
July’s Pray for Life Intention:

This month, we’re praying for mothers to receive ongoing care and support in raising their children. A prayer, reflection and action guide for individual and parish use is available: English  |  Spanish

Archbishop Wenski, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee for Religious Liberty, and Archbishop Naumann, chairman of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities shared,

“The Little Sisters of the Poor is an international congregation that is committed to building a culture of life. They care for the elderly poor. They uphold human dignity. They follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and his Church. The government has no right to force a religious order to cooperate with evil. We welcome the Supreme Court’s decision. We hope it brings a close to this episode of government discrimination against people of faith. Yet, considering the efforts we have seen to force compliance with this mandate, we must continue to be vigilant for religious freedom.” Read the full statement .

A world of children seeking happiness and God

Greetings to you all who have helped us move along. What is all this movement? As you know we moved out of our own home-made building and handed our property to the voracious equipment of KCC Mining Company. They wasted no time, working often in the rains. After three weeks they already finished a large part of the foundation of the huge house. At the same time they are building a wall for the protection of the children. We hear good reactions for the people in the village.

Some people are saying that they have decided not to watch the news anymore or at least to cut down the number of times they do tune in. I have not been able to do that (yet!). I know that I am not a glutton for punishment, but I need to see what is happening in our country and the world. I need to understand and feel the spirit that is motivating people to act in a certain way, to believe what they do, and to maintain attitudes which determine their actions. I keep asking myself why do I “need to understand”? That is a perplexing question and the most simple answer I tell myself is that all this encompasses my mission to pray for the world.
At this moment we are experiencing such division, such polarization, and more honestly such hate that are so contradictory to religious and human values. On the other side there are so many incredible examples of kindness, sacrifice, care, genuine love that warms all of our hearts and gives us hope. Everyone must do her/his part to change our present reality. I am sure you have heard these words before: “Choose to be the change you wish to see in the world.” I invite you to watch this short video and try to determine what is the mission that God is calling you to do now. Please be aware that it will begin with a short commercial.
