New Year and New Goals

Happy New Year from Prevention First!
For many of us, a new year comes with new motivation and new goals. If you're striving for professional development moving into 2021, we can help with that! Prevention First would love to help you set and reach attainable and measurable goals this year. We want to be a resource to help propel prevention professionals' success.
COVID-19, Stress, and Alcohol

Welcome, 2021! 2020 felt more like a decade than a year. And if you follow social media, you may have noticed an influx of memes depicting the need for alcohol to get through the day. While those are meant as a joke, the research is now showing we need to pay closer attention to how people release stress and the examples they set in doing so. A recent study highlights how women drink due to negative effects such as stress. The same research shows adolescent girls do the same. The APRC has created a new infographic with the latest research. Click here to download.

Join us Monday, January 11th at 10:00 am for a webinar on The Truth About Underage Drinking and Fake IDs. Our presenters, Jermaine Galloway and Mark Baxter, are nationally recognized experts in Substance Use Prevention, Law Enforcement, and Fake IDs. The webinar will not be recorded.

The APRC can assist you in analyzing your IYS data, selecting strategies, and building capacity on alcohol policy. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Kellie Henrichs or Jody Heavilin.

Webinar Wednesdays

SPF-Through COVID-19 and Beyond
January 6, 1 - 2:30 pm EDT
Trainer: Rick Collins

Have you heard the "SPF" acronym in prevention conversations, but you aren't really sure what it really means or how to apply it? Are you looking for ways to better integrate the steps of the model into your work? Then the webinar is for you! This Webinar Wednesday will dive into the components of one of the most commonly used models for prevention, the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF). We will discuss creative ways that coalitions can implement the framework during COVID-19 and also look beyond COVID-19 to ways coalitions leverage the model to measure outcomes and create lasting change in their communities.
