The Delaware Bayshore Byway Corridor Management Plan – Update 2020, has been approved! The Update was developed by the

All-American Road Application Submitted
|
|
Once the CMP Update was completed and approved last month, Delaware Greenways submitted an All-American Road nomination application to the
Federal Highway Administration
. This application aims to have the Delaware Bayshore Byway, rich in natural areas, wildlife, history and culture, designated an
All-American Road
.
|
|
Two of six intrinsic qualities;
Scenic, Natural, Historic, Cultural, Archaeological
and
Recreational
, have to be met to receive the special designation. As many who live or travel along this byway know, the Bayshore holds an abundance of those qualities along its 100 miles of Delaware coastline. We'll update you as soon hear any news!

Champion for Historic Lewes Byway Passes
|
|
On June 9, 2020 DGI lost a dear friend and generous supporter,
Russ Tatman.
As a
member of the Historic Lewes Byway
Committee
Russ was a visionary, dedicated to preserving and maintaining the treasured landscapes, rich heritage and outstanding natural resources that shape Lewes and its surroundings. Russ made every day brighter. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Cathy and family.

More people are getting outdoors, traveling trails throughout the country than any other time before. It’s great seeing this upsurge of individuals and families exploring nature, new places, being active doing so.
It's important that all trail users continue to practice safe-distancing and
wear masks as needed. If you're new to traveling trails, make sure you're aware of
proper trail safety and etiquette, so that everyone has an enjoyable outing. View a helpful list and the #RecreateResponsibly guidelines below.

Delaware Greenways has joined organizations from across the country in asking Congress for a federal infrastructure investment in regional trails and greenways for equitable and healthy transportation and recreation. An effort led by
East Coast Greenway, the
Greenway Stimulus would help fund these important connections for communities. As we're seeing during the pandemic, and studies show, trails are becoming an even more vital part of many lives. One of our trail initiatives along the
Governor Printz
Boulevard Corridor, would be among the trails benefiting from the Stimulus.
We'll update you as soon as we have news to share on it!
