Court of Queen's Bench Announcement

Recent amendments to the Alberta Rules of Court have prescribed new forms of Affidavit of Applicant for Divorce (Form FL-23) and Affidavit of Applicants for Divorce (Joint) (Form FL-24) effective November 1, 2020. It is the responsibility of litigants or their counsel to ensure that, starting on November 1, 2020, they are fully complying with these new forms.

However, to ensure continued access to justice for litigants, a grace period will be observed until January 1, 2021 before the requirement for compliance will be strictly enforced. Therefore, though you are encouraged to use the new forms, if a document is submitted for filing in the previous format of Affidavit of Applicant, such document will be accepted for filing by the Clerk of the Court for the duration of this grace period. After January 1, 2021, the requirements of compliance may be more strictly enforced.

While the PDF versions won’t be ready for November 1, Microsoft Word versions of those two new forms will be posted on November 1 when they take effect. Once the new fillable-PDF forms are ready, they will replace the Word versions of the forms.

After November 1, when the new forms take effect, the updated forms will be found by clicking on these URLs:
