ISSUE NO. 15 | February 2, 2022
Dear 555 Community,

If we are to believe Punxsutawney Phil today, there will be six more weeks of winter.

No matter when spring arrives, there are so many things to enjoy right now. Life is not on hold. I know this community feels the same. The steady stream of employees coming into 555 over the last two years illustrates that and demonstrates that we have been able to create a safe and welcoming space during an uneasy time.

I am filled with optimism for this year, and encourage you to embrace and take advantage of some of the experiences that made us fall in love with New York in the first place. With its architecture, creativity, diversity and history, the city is indeed a marvel.

In this edition, we highlight some lovely only-in-NYC events that will keep your chilly February filled with warm cheer – including our Valentine’s Day surprise. Building updates and Ask Aleisa are also back by popular demand. In the months to come, we will keep you posted on building activities and ways we will come together as a community. Thank you for making 555 so special.

All the best,
Dionicia Hernandez
The Rodney Corporation

Please note: while we send this update to our designated tenant contact, we encourage you to share this newsletter and all issues with your entire staff so we can keep our community connected and informed.
Celebrate Black History Month
The Metropolitan Museum has an ongoing exhibition, The African Origin of Civilization. In 1974, Senegalese scholar and humanist Cheikh Anta Diop asserted the influence of ancient African civilizations in his seminal book, The African Origin of Civilization: Myth or Reality. According to the Met, “this exhibition pays homage to Diop by presenting masterpieces from the Museum’s collections from west and central Africa alongside art from ancient Egypt for the first time in The Met’s history.” More details here.
The New York Public Library has a roster of events and programming for Black History Month including live author talks and panels, book discussions, trivia, STEAM activities for kids, and more. See the programming here.
If you love music, the Harlem Chamber Players are not to be missed. They will host their 14th Annual Black History Month celebration on Wednesday, February 23 at 6:00pm. The event takes place at the Harlem School of the Arts. More information here.

Now that we’re heading into spring, how do I secure a spot in the 555 bike room?
