Village Hall Closed Labor Day &
Waste Pick-Up Delayed by One Day
The Village wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday weekend! In observance of Labor Day, Village Hall will be closed Monday, September 6. Normal business hours will resume Tuesday, September 7 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Garbage collection by Waste Management will be delayed by one day next week due to the holiday. Monday pickup will take place on Tuesday, Tuesday pickup will occur on Wednesday, and so on. View the pickup schedule here.
The Village Is Hiring!
The Village is currently seeking candidates for two job openings: a Community Development Director and a part-time Administrative Assistant. The Community Development Director will work closely with the Village Manager and the Village’s commissions and committees to handle activities in economic development and analysis, planning, intergovernmental opportunities and zoning codes/reviews, among other responsibilities. The part-time Administrative Assistant is a new position and will report to the Director of Operations to handle clerical functions, documentation, public inquiries and other general operations tasks.

Route 83 Construction
Project Update
The construction project managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation to patch and stripe portions of Route 83 will continue through September, weather permitting.

Motorists can expect delays and heavy traffic, and should allow extra travel time in the area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
Household Chemical Waste Collections in September
The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) is holding household chemical waste collection events at their Gurnee facility on the following Saturdays: September 11, 18 and 25. Collections are for residential chemical waste only and the service is free for Illinois residents. Accepted materials include flammable liquids, automotive fluids, garden chemicals and medications. LGFPD Hosts Class on Open Burning September 18
The Long Grove Fire Protection District (LGFPD) is hosting a free open burn class on Saturday, September 18 at 10 a.m. at the LGFPD fire station. The class will cover how to conduct an open burn safely on your property, as well as how to apply for an open burn permit. Downtown Irish Days Is This Weekend!
The popular Irish Days festival is back Saturday, September 4 - Monday, September 6! The family-friendly event is hosted by the Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association to celebrate Irish culture, music and food. Entertainment will include Irish dancers, bagpipers and folk bands, along with an Irish dog competition and men’s kilt contest, among other events and activities. Visitors are invited to stroll the town’s cobblestone walkways and browse the quaint shops and restaurants that make downtown Long Grove such a unique destination. The Long Grove Park District is offering a wide variety of programs and activities beginning in September, including sports for kids, nature talks for adults and virtual sessions for seniors.
