from the president
Thank you to all who attended the PTSA General Membership meeting this week. We were pleased to have Dranesville District School Board Representative Elaine Tholen fill us in on many initiatives underway, including the return to school, LHS/ McLean HS boundary adjustment, FCPS budget and more. Click here for the meeting recording.

At the meeting, the PTSA Nominating Committee presented the slate of nominees for next year's PTSA officers, noted in the green box below. We’re excited to have this experienced and dedicated team of leaders for the '21-22 year. Voting on the slate will occur at this year’s final PTSA General Membership meeting on May 5.

Though spring break is on the horizon, Langley has many upcoming activities, including a senior parent forum tomorrow with Principal Greer, the PSAT-10 for sophomores, the Langley Career Fair, a food drive at LHS benefitting SHARE and more. Read on for details!

~ Kitty Gonzalez, PTSA President

comment on the calendar
Would you prefer a fixed FCPS spring break, or do you like the floating schedule? This is one of the many issues under consideration regarding the FCPS calendar. On Mar 18, the School Board will vote on the ’21-22 calendar.

To see the recent School Board meeting presentation on three options, click here. At the meeting, the Board asked for a fourth option, which would include two floating holidays in February. Click here for At-Large Representative Heizer's summary from her newsletter posted yesterday.

The original FCPS comment form is closed, as the form didn't reflect a fourth option, so send your comments to Wendy Biliter, Staff Aide to Dranesville Representative Elaine Tholen, at wmbiliter@fcps.edu.

buy a leaf for the courtyard
Buy a leaf, or more, for the Courtyard Legacy Tree fundraiser! We still have an empty Science Courtyard that needs landscaping.

To fund the landscaping project, donate a leaf to the Langley Legacy Tree, the beautiful wall sculpture that is “growing” in the Langley Lobby, across from the Main Office.
The Legacy Tree is a permanent and prominent record of generous courtyard contributors. Choose your engraved message – leaves make wonderful tributes to students, teachers, family and friends! Giving levels are copper ($50), silver ($100), gold ($200) and acorn or bird ($500).

To donate your tree leaves/acorns/birds, view the LHS PTSA homepage and scroll down to the Legacy Tree article. Questions? Email Chrissie Lavin at chrissielavin1@gmail.com.

that Mar 14 is pi (π) day and an official US holiday? In the 1980s, a physicist at the Exploratorium created celebrations on the day based on the digits of pi (3.14159…), which ultimately inspired the establishment of the national holiday in 2009.

This Sunday, celebrate pi day online at the Exploratorium with a host of pi activities for all ages!
