As we look forward to warmer weather, there are numerous opportunities for our youth: summer camps, scholarships, employment, and more. Each spring for the past five years, I've sent a newsletter to share items which may be useful for your family. This message is chock full of helpful information. Scholarship Information
Apply today for the Prince George's Community College (PGCC) Promise Scholarship! The Prince George's County Promise Scholarship is designed to support students with financial resources beyond federal, state, and private scholarships to complete their education. Scholarships will cover ALL tuition and fees for eligible PGCPS graduates.

The
Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship is a last dollar award, available to students that plan to enroll in credit-bearing coursework leading to a vocational certificate, certificate, or an Associate's Degree; or in a sequence of credit or non-credit courses that leads to licensure or certification; or in a registered apprenticeship program at a Maryland community college for the 2020-2021 academic year.
During Women's History Month, the Prince George's County Office of the County Executive presents a scholarship in memory of Congresswoman Gladys Noon Spellman. Ms. Spellman was a celebrated public servant of Prince George's County for more than two decades. Application deadline is February 19.

First Generation College Bound offers mentoring and support through the
College Success Program to students at Central, Fairmont Heights, Laurel, Parkdale and Potomac High Schools. Through this program FGCB assists students in applying for financial aid.
100 Black Men of Prince George's County, Inc. offers 10 $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing higher education who are residents of Prince George's County or mentees of 100 Black Men of Prince George's County.

Crescent City Charities offers scholarships ranging from $1,000 - $2,500 to students in the Washington, DC region. Deadline is April 15.
The
Incentive Awards Program is designed for exceptional students who demonstrate academic ability, uncommon assistance and maturity despite very difficult circumstances. Through full scholarships and wraparound services, Baltimore City and Prince George's County high school students with significant financial need can thrive at the University of Maryland.

The Prince George's County Department of Parks & Recreation offers more than
600 camp sessions in 2020 for children ages 3-17! Registration is now open. Learn more at

Art Works Now in Hyattsville this summer! Week-long camps are offered for kids ages 5-15.
Ancestral Knowledge offers summer day camps which are 100% outdoors and filled with forest exploration, hands-on projects and games for ages 7 and older.

Foundation for the Advancement of Music and Education (FAME) offers a Summer Music Program for students grades 7 through 12 who are interested in careers or learning more about music composition, recording or production, and singing.

Excelon is offering a
STEM Innovation Leadership Academy at the University of Maryland College Park. This residential leadership program for young women currently in 10th or 11 grade includes field trips and hands on activities.

grade students the opportunity to explore research and development of technology for Soldiers in the field. Participants interact with scientists and engineers to examine science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects and careers.
