The City Choir of Washington dearly misses our audiences and sharing music with you. Since we cannot sing for our friends and patrons in person, we are pleased to share monthly multimedia offerings based on our past performances. Look for them on the second Wednesday of each month! We hope you enjoy these "moments of music," and we look forward to joining together in song again when it's safe to return to the concert hall.

Celebrating Women's History Month

The City Choir of Washington is thrilled to bring you a brand-new recording! This performance, by City Choir soprano Rachel Tester and pianist Peter Uhlir, was originally scheduled for March 15, 2020. Sadly, that concert, which was to feature all three great French Pie Jesu's (by Fauré, L. Boulanger, and Duruflé), was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic.
To celebrate Women's History Month, we are pleased to present the final masterpiece of composer Lili Boulanger, and hope you will enjoy this intimate, haunting work.

Lili Boulanger: An Iron Flower

In 1918, in one of her last acts as a composer, Lili Boulanger dictated Pie Jesu to her sister Nadia from her deathbed. She was only 24 years old, and through determination, ambition, and sheer will had pushed her frail body to its limit. Her tragic death was a blow to the musical world.
