This Sunday
A New Session of Adult Formation Classes

Our next session of Adult Formation classes begins this Sunday. Click here to learn more about what's coming up.
Epiphany Drive-Through and Food Drive

Just as the Magi brought gifts for Jesus, we will give from our abundance to those without by gathering donations for the Atlanta Food Bank.
Dear saints,

There are times in our lives when it is important for us to know where it is we are grounded. This week’s events that saw the U.S. Capitol invaded by an angry and violent mob ask that question of us now. How are we grounded? Where do our values come from? On what basis will we make our contribution to the life of this nation? For the individual, those might be seen as personal questions. For a community such as ours they are questions to be answered out loud and in public so that we can know how we are to live with one another. I know and trust that we as All Saints' are grounded in our faith in Jesus Christ, the one whom the heavens proclaim in our gospel reading this Sunday to be beloved. We are a people constituted in Christ. As a Christian community there is no other grounding that takes priority. In Christ there is no room for violence or hatred, no tolerance for bigotry and no safe harbor for a view that sees other human beings as anything less than living temples of the glory of God. Every person is our neighbor or no one is.

This is not the time to evade difficult questions, it is time to confront them. This coming Sunday I will seek to articulate a faithful response to the events of this week. I pray that you will lend your voice too and that we might prayerfully grow as a community that trusts that the reign of God's kingdom of justice and peace will prevail upon the earth.

Peace,
Simon Mainwaring
A prayer for our nation from Simon:

Loving God, Prince of peace, we pray for the welfare and unity of our nation. May your path of righteousness and love become the way of all people, and may we learn to see in one another in this nation and across your world the neighbor whom we are called to love. Lord in your mercy, hear us. Amen.
Please Welcome the Rev. Karen Evans as Priest Associate for Pastoral Care

We are delighted to announce that the Rev. Karen Evans has been named as Priest Associate for Pastoral Care and will work alongside our other Priest Associate, the Rev. Dr. Denni Moss, this new year.

Karen and Denni focus their pastoral care work on homebound parishioners and others in long-term care. They also help with weekly pastoral care from time to time, which is typically led by our four full-time clergy on a rotating basis.

If you have a pastoral care need or concern, please do let us know either by contacting Pat Kiley ([email protected]) to make a prayer request or by filling out a prayer request form on our website. Of course, you are always welcome simply to email or call a member of the clergy or lay staff, or call the church number (404) 881-0835.

Service and Social Justice
Provide a Meal for the Men of Covenant Community

Available dates: January 18, February 1 and 8

As the new year begins, please resolve to help with Monday dinners for Covenant Community. Sharing a meal with the men inside the community is still not possible, but a supportive procedure is in place. Dinner can be dropped off at the front door on Spring Street any time during the day. After dinner, the men would very much like to do a Zoom meeting with you so that everyone could virtually get together. Your participation will be very much appreciated.

Coming Soon: All Saints’ Connects Small Groups

All Saints' Connects Small Groups are gearing up again in 2021, with sign-up details coming in mid-January. Whether you choose our monthly groups (once monthly for six months) or the classic weekly track (once weekly for six contiguous weeks, offered in Lent), we look forward to growing spiritually with you!

Coming Soon: Neighborhood Connections Groups

Our *new* Neighborhood Connections Groups invite everyone to engage in fun, social activities with saints who live nearby, such as sharing a cup of coffee on a porch, taking a cooking class over Zoom, or going for a walk or hike together.

Each neighborhood group will have a volunteer coordinator to help organize activities based on the interests of those participating. If you are interested in serving as a coordinator, please contact Jill Gossett, Director of Parish Life, at [email protected].
Giving
Your gifts and pledges have a BIG impact at All Saints’ and we are “doing church” in some wonderful new ways:
  • Our professional choir members have recorded over 60 hymns in recent weeks to build a library for our coming services.
  • The new website is reaching more people and ever with improved visuals, newcomer forms and service information.
  • We purchased a fire pit to use in the courtyard so our youth can meet and social distance in small groups.
Please continue to give as we serve our community and reach out to others in need.

Four Ways to Give:
  1. Mail in a check. We receive the mail at the church each day at 634 West Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30308.
  2. Pay online with a credit card. Click here to fill out the online form.
  3. Create a login for ACCESS:AllSaints’ and set up pledge payments, gifts, and recurring gifts from credit cards or a bank account. This feature also opens our online directory to you. You can view your own annual giving records and easily find phone numbers for friends you might want to contact. Plus, you can use this same login to access a free mobile app called Churchlife that allows you to give from your phone and connect with others in the parish. Click here to create an account (go to “Need a login? Click here.”). If you’d like to request assistance, please contact Betsey Gibbs at [email protected].
  4. Text to Give! On your phone, text “ALLSAINTSATLANTA General” to the number 73256 and fill in a dollar amount you want to give. For example, to give $50, send a text to: 73256 and in the message type “ALLSAINTSATLANTA General 50” (spacing is important). Standard text messaging rates may apply.

Would you like a packet of offering envelopes with 2021 dates already marked on them for mailing in your pledge and gift checks? Email Ellen Hayes and we will mail you a packet of these: [email protected].

Year-End Giving Statements will be mailed in mid-January 2021.

From the Candler Foundry

Faith in Conflict: Dealing with Legacy with the Rev. Dr. Gary Mason

Wednesdays, January 27 through March 3, 5:30-7:00 p.m., on Zoom
Explore the historical and theological roots of one of the world's longest running conflicts- the Troubles of Northern Ireland- and how a community of faith helped build peace and pursue reconciliation. With this perspective, we will consider what these stories can teach us about dealing with legacy in a deeply divided United States and wrestle with the concept of what is the role of people of faith in rebuilding and repairing conflicted societies.

This course is offered by The Candler Foundry; the cost to participate is $75.
