What: With Main Street Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority, DPI presents the Open 4 Business competition for a for-profit business locating in downtown Burlington. Chosen local applicants will pitch their business concepts, with the winner competing to be a semifinalist in May for a chance at $8,000. Five finalists will present their ideas in a statewide contest in July for an additional $20,000 in funding.

Volunteer Training Open Call 
What: Training session for those  looking for an opportunity to help victims/survivors of intimate partner violence. Consider joining the DVIP volunteer team! Patient Visiting Restricted at Great River Medical Center
What:  People who are 14 or younger are not allowed to visit because they are at high risk for getting and spreading influenza. People can infect others with the flu about 24 hours before they have symptoms. If you have been exposed to someone with the flu or if you have flu symptoms, don't visit patients. Emergency Department visiting is limited to one adult. Only spouses or partners, grandparents and healthy siblings of the baby may visit in the Obstetrics Unit. Only parents and grandparents can visit patients under 18 in the Pediatrics Unit.

Great River Health Casual Day Donations Top $11,000
What:  Great River Health System employees donated $11,410 through casual day contributions in 2019. On designated Fridays, employees may wear jeans to work in exchange for $2 casual day stickers. The money was given to 22 organizations and services. Employees also donated hats, mittens, coats and other winter gear to area schools.
