What is your favorite thing about San Diego? My favorite thing about San Diego is the fact that you can easily go to a variety of different places throughout the county, and there’s always a place for everyone to be able to go and love no matter what your interests are.
What do you miss about home? I’m going to consider where my mom lives right now (Sitka, Alaska) home, because it’s a part of traditional Tlingit territory and even though I didn’t grow up there I can always feel my heart longing to go back. It’s absolutely beautiful there and I feel like a completely different person when I’m there - in a good way, like I’m transformed somehow.
What advice do you have for incoming students? I strongly advise incoming students to be open to exposing yourself to new cultures and push yourself a little beyond your comfort zones so you can really explore and get the most out of your experience at UCSD!
