Creativity Takes Courage

“Creativity Takes Courage.” These words from artist Henri Matisse are full of wisdom. Great artists have long understood that in order to produce their very best work, they must be vulnerable. They must be willing to go places inside themselves, sometimes to allow themselves to feel feelings that are a bit uncomfortable.
Over the weekend I attended a new musical- VerbӦten. The music and lyrics were written by Roycemore alumnus, Jason Narducy ‘89, inspired by his life as a teenager. VerbӦten was the name of his band formed by Middle School students. Another member of the band was a Roycemore student and two others were from here in Evanston. The production explores the power of music to express emotions and also the importance of family, whether it is our biological family or our “adopted” family and friends. I first met Jason a couple of years ago when we introduced him to some of our own Middle School students who were focusing on music for their Personal Passion Projects. We had a wonderful turn out for the JST Expo last week. The projects were amazing and the students did a great job presenting their work to parents, teachers, students, and even prospective families. Summer Camp Registration is Now Open
|
|
Inspiration Factory and Camp Griffin are back at Roycemore for Summer 2020! Options range from 1 week to 3 weeks, and include half day and full day options. Whatever age your child is, we have you covered with camps that range from age 3 all the way to 12th Grade.

Senior night for the Upper School Girls Basketball team is this Friday. All members of the Roycemore community are invited to come out and cheer the team on. Any Roycemore student who attends the game on Friday is eligible to enter a drawing for a bag of

Mrs. Wunder is making great progress and would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support that she has received from our Roycemore family! She has been working with Mr. Linkhart and they have come up with a plan for the annual Palio celebration that involves rescheduling Palio to same day as the currently planned Spring Show (May 21st). Junior Palio will also be rescheduled to May 27th.

Roycemore Strategic Discussions
|

Last month, we announced a discussion series that invites all members of the Roycemore community to partake in community conversations this winter. These events will serve as a precursor to the work our school will be doing next year to launch a new strategic plan.
There are two dates left
and we encourage everyone to please consider attending one of these dates. We want every voice to be heard.

Re-enrollment and Tuition Discounts

|
Re-enrollment launched earlier this month and many of our families have already completed the required paperwork and reserved their student's spot for next year. If you have any questions or problems accessing your re-enrollment packet, please let us know.
Roycemore also offers different payment plans that give families a discount on tuition. The Blue and Gold Payment Plan is one of those plans and families who enroll receive a 2% tuition discount.

Northwestern University PADlab
Teen Research Study:
Game Changers
|

Roycemore has a long established connection with Northwestern University and their many resources. This includes the University's
PADlab
(Personality Across Development). They are conducting a research study on personality development in adolescence and how that affects decision-making and leadership skills. They are looking for participants between the ages of 13 and 17 for a study. The time commitment is 3-4 hours and participants will earn a $60 Amazon gift card.
