“Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
    praise him in his mighty firmament![a]

Praise him for his mighty deeds;
    praise him according to his surpassing greatness!

Praise him with trumpet sound;
    praise him with lute and harp!

Praise him with tambourine and dance;
    praise him with strings and pipe!

Praise him with clanging cymbals;
    praise him with loud clashing cymbals!

Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!”

Psalm 150

With the budding of springtime and the celebration of Easter resurrection last week, I cannot help but find joy in the Psalmist’s hopefulness.  His enthusiasm is palpable.

Have you ever had a moment where you were overwhelmed with gratitude?
Where for a moment, your spirit soared?
Or you felt a jolt of hope that something great was up ahead…
and it was so intense that you could not wait to get there?

These moments are a gift. Admittedly, they don’t come as often as we like.
Sometimes they are here one day, like a beautiful 70 degree spring afternoon,
 and are snatched back the next.
But – when they arrive, they are tangible reminders of God’s grace that is with us in each moment – and they are most often noticed when we tune out the noise of our lives for a while.

This week, in those moments when the sun rises and the air warms…
As the trees come into bloom and you hear the sounds of new life coming from your open windows…
When your kid calls for you, or a friend in-need reaches out for your care…
Take a moment to stop, to breathe deeply,
And to repeat the words of the Psalmist, who could not help himself at the sight of new life but to stop and proclaim:
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
