DPH Announces 221 Additional COVID-19 Cases
11,731 Confirmed Cases - 510 Total Deaths in Delaware
According to the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH), Delaware has a total of 510 fatalities due to COVID 19. Individuals who have died ranged in age from 21 to 104 years old. 270 were females and 240 were males. A total of 245 individuals were from New Castle County, 90 were from Kent County, and 175 were from Sussex County.

The latest Delaware COVID-19 statistics include:
  • 11,731 total laboratory-confirmed cases
  • New Castle County cases: 5,183
  • Kent County cases: 1,716
  • Sussex County cases: 4,779
  • Unknown: 53
  • Age range: 0 to 104
  • Hospitalized: 67; Critically ill: 16

DPR Moves to New Online Licensing System
Paper Applications No Longer Accepted
The Division of Professional Regulation (DPR) has moved to a new online licensing system. The new system, known as Delaware Professional Regulation Online Service (DELPROS), will simplify and automate professional licensing services in the State of Delaware. User will be required to create a user account and log-in before you can complete an application, make a payment, or apply for other services. DPR will be sending email registration information for DELPROS to existing customers. All users should receive their required security code to register no later than August 15, 2020. Read more
AMA Tackles Key Issues in Washington
PPE, Policing Reforms, Medicare Payments
The American Medical Association (AMA) has been working hard to ensure physicians have the tools and safeguards they need to continue to battle COVID-19 and to weather the hardships the virus presents to the practice of medicine.

In letters to Vice President Mike Pence and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the AMA urged immediate action to address ongoing shortages and access issues related to person protective equipment (PPE), including recommendations establishing a national response strategy that delineates federal and state responsibilities; focusing on the needs of all practice settings; the creation of a permanent home for federal logistical planning; and strict measures again price gouging that can occur during national emergencies. The AMA also has asked Congressional leaders to find common ground on a path forward on effective and equitable policing reforms. Read more.

Finally, the AMA and more than 100 other organizations sent a sign-on letter to  Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Azar calling on HHS to use its authorities and flexibilities under the COVID-19 public health emergency to waive the requirement for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to adjust Medicare physician payments for budget neutrality when it implements the office visit coding and payment changes that it has finalized for 2021. Medical Sales Reps Not Permitted in Hospitals, Etc.
Some Exceptions Apply
The Division of Public Health is reminding physicians and their staff that only doctors, medical personnel, patients and their caregivers or support persons are allowed to enter hospitals and physician's offices. Medical sales associates or non-essential deliveries to these medical facilities are not allowed to enter. An exemption allows for only those medical equipment representatives who are part of the patient care team. Read more.
