Nothing is so beautiful as Spring -
When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush…”
Gerard Manley Hopkins

Let's Take This Outside
How true are the words of poet Gerard Manley Hopkins! As each Spring day grows warmer and longer, we’re all enticed by the outdoors, and, at LLCA, we’re reminded that we want to make outdoor education and nature studies a more integral part of the educational experience for our Raptors. Currently, we are working on several initiatives in this regard:
  • We are expanding and developing our outdoor classroom capacity
  • Planting a large pollinator garden
  • Introducing plants of native species on our hiking trails
  • Working on a year-by-year field trip schedule that will ensure that our students are able to visit some of the most beautiful and ecologically-significant sites in our local and regional areas.
If you have an interest in helping out in any of these areas, please let us know. We invite you to contact a member of the administrative team or one of our PTO officers. We are always grateful for any help that you can provide.
We also encourage you to get your children outdoors as much as possible during this lovely season!

Every fourth and fifth-grader in Rutherford County has the opportunity to participate in the Prevent Child Abuse Button contest, after which the entries are collected and judged by Rutherford County’s Child Abuse Response Team (CART). Several of our very own LLCA students were finalists and attended the recognition ceremony at Crestview Baptist Church this past Friday. Finalists were Natalie Smith, Greenley White, Kyleigh Hornbeck, Allison McBrayer, Jazzy Rowe, and Delaney Cullen, not pictured.
Eighth Grade Day of Discovery!
8th grade Middle School students had a blast at The Discovery Place on Wednesday. Thank you Mrs. Warner and Mrs. Sias for putting this together.
Discovery Place Science is a science and technology museum for all ages, located in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. The facility's exhibits and activities focus on hands-on experiences.
Learning about Business from Horses
This past Wednesday, a group of rising 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students from LLCA visited the Tryon International Equestrian Center for an educational experience on business. We were first introduced to many different jobs that the Equestrian Center offers, and then discussed a few of the jobs in detail with several of the Center’s employees.
Additionally, we talked about the small businesses on the Equestrian Center’s grounds, and the events hosted by the community there. It was an experience both educational and enjoyable.
"As a student at LLCA, I would love to see more trips like this one and be a part of the community we have in this area more and more as Lake Lure Classical Academy grows," said 10th grader, Logan Getsinger.
