You’re still with me! Thanks for coming along as we take a brief look at some of the scriptures and themes that will be explored at Kirchenwald, Nawakwa, HC Spirit and Wittel Farm this summer.
Planting days are happening at the WIttel Farm!! Join us!
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:37-38
Last summer I participated in a harvest and clean up day at Wittel Farm. I picked more peppers…and cleaned in the barn. As I walked through the field, my heart cried out, “the harvest is so plentiful, and the workers so few! Oh Lord of the harvest, send workers!” I was being quite literal that day in the field! Then as I reflected on it for writing today, I thought again about how many the food grown at Wittel Farm feeds, and how many volunteers are needed to plant, tend, and harvest their growing project. The Growing Project provides food for hungry people in Lancaster County. Come join in for a day of planting this Spring!
And as you are planting (or whatever work Pastor Matt might set before you) you can revel in the beauty of God’s created world and then go out and bear witness as laborers for the Gospel in your community. We are journeying through the summer camp themes in these weekly thought and day 5 of Boundless is “Generosity Beyond Measure.” The work of volunteers at the Wittel Farm lives out a generosity beyond measure as a living example of the abundant harvest of God’s love.
Discussion Starter – When a task seems larger than you can handle, what is your response? Hunger in Lancaster (any county) is a big deal. Wittel Farm doesn’t solve it but does lend a helping hand. What’s a “large harvest” project in your community? What laborer role might you be called to?
Check out all of the camping opportunities and remember to use code PENNCENTRAL2022 for 50% campership when you register for HC Spirit, Kirchenwald and Nawakwa!
