Saturday, March 28 | 5:45-6:45 P.M.
Campus Center Assembly Hall
The NYS Writers Institute's inaugural Albany Film Festival will be held Saturday, March 28 , at the University at Albany. The all-day event will begin at 10:30 A.M. and continue through the afternoon. The festival features panel discussions, conversations with actors, filmmakers, and authors whose books have been made into movies, screenings of feature-length films, a contest for film shorts, and an awards ceremony.

The day will end with a state-of-the-art, 3D immersive light display -- the first of its kind in the Capital Region -- on the 195-foot wide, 45-foot high exterior of UAlbany's Science Library. Using computer animation, high-powered projection equipment, and a powerhouse sound system, the light display will tell the story of Albany's cultural legacy and the history of major movies filmed on location in the region. Stephen Lang , winner of the New York State Archives Partnership Trust's 2018 Empire State Archives & History Award , will narrate the story.

The Albany Film Festival is free and open to the public. For complete details, visit www.albanyfilmfestival.org or call 518-442-5620.

Have you had your Daily Serving of "Vegetable Soup?"
"Vegetable Soup" was a children's television program produced by the NYS Education Department in the 1970s. It tried to counter the negative and destructive effects of racial prejudice by promoting multiculturalism. Our featured video from the series includes the voice talent of Bette Midler as Woody the Spoon and James Earl Jones as Long John Spoilsport.
