from the president
Congratulations to Langley’s Class of 2022! By this time next week, they will have walked across the stage at DAR Constitution Hall, received their diplomas and celebrated as a class one final time at the All Night Graduation Party. Best wishes to our new grads for fantastic futures filled with much happiness and many successes.

In addition to our seniors, many of our parent volunteers will also be “graduating” from Langley on May 31. Thank you to the wonderful parents who, through the unselfish sharing of their time, talents and resources, have supported academic, artistic, athletic and social clubs, teams and programs. Also deserving of another sincere thank you are our graduating PTSA volunteers, including our current Executive Board Members Annette Bellino, Angelique Bennett, Michelle Francis, Kitty Gonzalez, Chrissie Lavin, Missy Perkins, Blake Tippens, Betsy Vrankovich and Kelly Wilson. Throughout the past 4-plus years, their unfaltering leadership and untiring dedication to the PTSA’s mission have made Langley a more enriching environment for all students. These remarkable volunteers will certainly be acutely missed and fondly remembered!

Have a happy Memorial Day and a safe and enjoyable long weekend.

~ Clare Bradshaw, PTSA President
saxon studio presents
On Fri, Jun 3 at 7 pm and Sat, Jun 4 at 3:30 pm, come see the Saxon Studio advanced theatre class perform The Lightning Thief, the Percy Jackson Musical! Tickets are $5 and will be available soon through the Saxon Stage website.

Synopsis: As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can't control, a destiny he doesn't want, and a mythology textbook's worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus's master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him. Adapted from the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is an action-packed mythical adventure "worthy of the gods" (Time Out New York).
all night grad party - volunteer now!
All Night Grad Party (ANGP) ANGP is back—bigger and better than ever! Preparations have been underway for months. The 2022 ANGP will be held at the Oak Marr Rec Center from Tues, May 31 from 10:45 pm – Wed, June 1 at 4 am. ANGP will make use of its three indoor swimming pools and outdoor mini golf course. But that’s just the start. New grads can also flex their maneuvering skills in the bumper boats and inflatable obstacle course, try their luck in the casino and test their wits in the escape room. Need an air-brushed tattoo to start the summer? There’s a booth for that! Want cash? Take a turn in the wind tunnel money machine and make a grab for real dollars. Of course, there will also be a rockin’ DJ and hilarious karaoke, tasty food, highly desirable raffle prizes, and much, much more!

ANGP needs you! It takes many parent volunteers to make this party special for our graduating seniors. Volunteer now and future classes will pay it forward. Please sign up here.

langley legacy tree
Celebrate Your Senior! If you have a graduating senior, now's the time to order your leaf to ensure it will be up on the Legacy Tree before the end of the school year.

Thanks to the 550 generous Langley families who've donated a leaf to make the renovation of the first two of Langley's three courtyards possible.

One more courtyard to landscape! Consider helping to "grow" the Legacy Tree and complete the courtyard renovation project by donating a leaf (copper $50, silver $100, gold $200) or bird or acorn ($500). You choose the engraved message. The Legacy Tree is a permanent, prominent record of courtyard contributors and a lasting legacy for Langley and your family. Leaves also make great tributes to teachers, friends, coaches, and grads!

To order your leaf -- or leaves! -- visit the PTSA website and look for the article on the Legacy Tree. Questions? Email chrissielavin1@gmail.com.

eNews bids a fond farewell to our graduating senior, Michelle Francis. Michelle‘s family moved to Virginia three years ago and she got involved in the community right away. You may know her from the New Family Network, which she co-chaired, and also Family Network and Langley Band events. She joined eNews two years ago and with her relaxed style, she’s a natural at editing and formatting, and makes it all look easy.

Two other eNews editors are stepping down at the end of this year due to changing commitments, although both will still be at Langley:

Amy Prewett joined eNews three years ago, after working on the orchestra newsletter. She’s also been involved in crew among other activities. Amy brings a deft hand and finesse to editing, and has a great knack for teaser lines.

Ghida Damirji quickly volunteered at the beginning of the school year when another team member had to step back. She's brought vivacity and a wonderful spirit to eNews and had great suggestions for improving the process.

We are excited to welcome Julianne Kass and Niki Mallick, both rising ninth grade parents, to the eNews team next year, and appreciate their willingness to jump right in!

Publishing eNews every week is a truely collaborative effort and eNews benefits from the talents each team member brings. We look forward to keeping the Langley community informed in the 2022-23 school year. As always, send us your news!

~ Helen, Gary, and Stephanie
