AVID Showcase a Success!
SRHS  welcomed approximately 30 visitors from across the Bay Area (SF, San Mateo, Novato, MCOE) Tuesday, February 11th.  We had teams traveling as far away from Monterrey in the audience.  Superintendent Jim Hogeboom, Board Member Greg Knell, Kevin Kerr, Principal Marcucci and AP Kernan from DMS represented SRCS.

We met in the CCC for coffee and then did a PowerPoint presentation that provided background about our AVID programs Districtwide, but specific to San Rafael's work. We then had two rounds of classroom visits (each team visited 4 classes) with a networking break and display of student work in the CASS room. The morning concluded with a panel presentation and Q and A.

Our teachers, staff and students had an opportunity to shine and celebrate the great work that our school is doing with AVID.  I am so proud and appreciative of our community. We could not have pulled off the showcase without strong leadership and teamwork!  The classified team helped with the college displays and the behind the scene logistics.  Our student ambassadors and panelists did an excellent job representing SR.

Our visitors were very impressed and have also provided us with positive feedback!

Thank you again to all that helped us have a very successful AVID Showcase.

Seniors!!! Important Info for the Class of 2020
Please be sure to stop by the counseling office to complete your transcript requests for mid-year transcripts and reports. Not all schools require mid-year transcripts so be sure to check your college portals to determine who requires them. You will also need to advise what the due date is for these updates. Any questions please see Ms. Pipkin in the counseling office.
The counseling department would like to remind you to please link your counselor as a recommender to either your Coalition or Common App as soon as possible. Linking your counselor will allow your counselor to view deadlines and submit forms. If you link your counselor last-minute, you run the risk of your counselor submitting forms past admission deadlines for some Universities. Thank you.

Parenting Generation Z:  Navigating the Teen Years
Adolescence can be an especially challenging and confusing time, both for teens and their parents. In an effort to support our parent community, Rodef Sholom is hosting a series of learning opportunities -- including a four-part education series, a movie screening and a lecture evening -- to learn from experts how to differentiate between normative and problematic behavior, and how respond to our teens in ways that support good decision-making. The topics include sex and sexuality, anxiety and depression, substance use (including vaping), and managing technology use.  Join us for one, some, or all events.

All sessions on Wednesday evenings at 6:00-8:00pm in the JCC Gallery.
