Week of Sunday, November 8:
Worship & Announcements
MISSION STATEMENT: Celebrating and sharing God’s love in a welcoming community of faith, while serving others.
What's New
Annual Meeting - Sunday, November 15 - 11:30am - Zoom
We are going virtual with our annual meeting this year. We'll review and approve the 2021 Annual Budget and elect council members to 2- year terms. Materials for the meeting, including the finalized budget, budget comments, and slate of council candidates, will be mailed to each member household prior to the meeting. Zoom meeting information will be in next week's e-news. You can connect from your device with video or call in. Zoom polling features will be used for voting. We need to have a quorum of 45 members (15% of our voting/confirmed membership) to hold this meeting. Failure to reach a quorum will require us to reschedule. Please plan to attend this important meeting.
Christmas Eve Worship Survey
Planning is underway for Christmas Eve Worship. The worship planning team needs some additional information to determine how many services are needed to meet the needs/expectations of our members. Online worship will be available at a yet to be determined time.
Thanks for providing your input through this quick survey by November 20th.
Project Linus
On Dec. 12th, a blanket making event for Project Linus and our shut-ins will be held in the Fellowship Hall. A Thrivent Action Team grant allowed us to purchase enough fleece for 16 blankets.
If you would like to participate, social distancing will be practiced and everyone is required to wear a mask. If you have scissors please bring those too.
A second option for participating in this project is to pick up a kit at church. They will be on the donut table in the Narthex. Fleece, instructions, and patterns are included in the kits. You can also take a Thrivent shirt if you’d like. Please sign the available sheet so we can keep track of who has taken a kit. These need to be returned by Dec. 12th.
The third option is to have a kit delivered to you to work on at home. Please call Jackie Combes and she will happily deliver a kit to you. Whether we are tying blankets together or separately, we can gather in prayer. There will be a short Zoom prayer for the blankets at 9am on December 12th. Look for the Zoom address in communications before Deceember 12th.
Thanksgiving Boxes for Holy Cross Food Pantry
Our friends at Holy Cross Lutheran Church plan on distributing Thanksgiving bags/boxes at their Food Pantry on the evening of November 19. In 2019 a record number of 125 families received a box. With the effects of the global pandemic, the needs are greater this year so Holy Cross plans to distribute 150 boxes. Each family will get grocery items to prepare a Thanksgiving meal Each of the bags/boxes will cost approximately $20. You can write a check for your donation (with TURKEY Box in the memo line) and put it in the offering plate or mail to the church office. You may also use the Giving + app and donate in the special appeal section. The deadline to contribute is November 10th. If you are interested in helping distribute the bags/boxes on the evening of November 19 from 4:45pm to 7:00pm, please contact Kathy Christiansen at sharonkc@cox.net or 402-657-4601.
If anyone is interested in helping pack or distribute the Turkey boxes at Holy Cross, these are the dates and times: Sunday November 15 from 12 to 2; Wednesday November 18 from 6 to 7:30 and Thursday November 19 from 4:45 to 7:15. In order to be safe and CDC compliant, volunteers have to sign up. The sign up link is https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040b4ba8ad2ba13-pantry1
Lastly, all of our efforts to help support the Holy Cross food pantry have been greatly appreciated!
500 food items to be matched with $500 from Thrivent for the Holy Cross Food Pantry
We could not pass up the chance to “feed my sheep” at Holy Cross Lutheran by collecting 500 items of non-perishable food items from November 1-November 30 to earn $500 from Thrivent Financial in support of the Holy Cross Pantry. Please bring any non-perishable food item to Lord of Love and place on the table in the Narthex! If you are unable to get items to Lord of Love, but would like to contribute, financial gifts may be donated to Lord of Love (checks payable to Lord of Love), but please indicate clearly on check memo or envelopeFood Pantry.
Holy Cross greatly appreciates all our efforts in support of their food outreach!

Thanksgiving Service and Pie - Sunday, November 22 - 7pm
Please join us in this special time of giving thanks to God on Sunday evening, November 22 at 7 pm, in-person or via livestream. Instead of gathering together after the service for pie, we’ll have Pie-To-Go. If you are willing to make a pie, we invite you to sign-up via this link (or email Deb Lund.). You may pick up individual slice containers at church any time in November for you to package your pie and place on a table before the Thanksgiving worship; OR bring your whole pie to church no later than 10 am that morning of November 22nd, and we’ll package it for you. Those who attend the service are invited to pick out a slice of pie to take home AND take another slice to share with a neighbor or friend. There will also be a place for you to donate for our Thanksgiving special offering for the Lutheran Disaster Response, and the Foodbank for the Heartland
