King Arts “Chalk the Walk” in Support for Racial Equity
Last week, the King Arts PTA hosted a "chalk-the-walk" and sign making gathering event at the JEH Education Center. Families from across District 65 came to express their support for D65 leaders, including Dr. Horton, who carry forward the critical commitment to racial equity. Purposeful Parenting During Uncertain Times - November 12
D65 Parents and Caregivers, mark your calendars! Join Amita Health Clinical Consultant, Jackie Rhew, for a free, thoughtful, and virtual conversation on parenting and connection during these uncertain times. The event is scheduled for Thursday, November 12 and will guide parents on working with their teenage children to help build resiliency, navigate stressful situations, tolerate anxiety and strengthen self-advocacy and problem solving abilities. A Q&A session will follow the event. All D65 parents and caregivers are welcome to attend the event and Spanish interpretation will be available.

Interpreter Mentor Program Update
Congratulations are in order to members of the D65 Interpreter Mentor Program! This talented group of individuals have been hard at work, providing virtual language interpretation for parent-teacher conferences at Nichols Middle School for the third time this past October. The group has also extended their services to greater heights by working toward their required 40 volunteer hours for their Interpreter Certification licenses by assisting all departments in D65 with interpretation. Congratulations to Sara Carrillo,  Liliana Lazar, Olivia Trejo, Celia Carlino, Sandra Silva, Yolanda Mancera, Sofia Mancera, Iliana Lazar, Carla Rojas and Mayra Rico-Cardenas (pictured from the 2019-2020 school year) in completing their basic coursework and beginning formal certificate training in March! McGaw YMCA Mission Impact Series - November 12
The McGaw YMCA is launching a new virtual impact series aimed at bringing the Evanston community together safely throughout the year in support of McGaw’s most critical work. The first Mission Impact Series virtual event, “Building an Education Ecosystem for Evanston’s Youngest Learners,” will be held on November 12 at 4:30 pm and will focus on education. Superintendent Horton will be a guest speaker on the live panel - so you won’t want to miss this! The event is free for all to attend, but don’t forget to register!

Virtual Winter Trimester Enrichment - Begins November 16!
We are happy to announce that virtual enrichment courses are being offered through the D65 PEP and PTA Council for the winter trimester! Courses are open for registration and will start Monday, November 16. For detailed information on courses offered, feel free to refer to this folder for grade appropriate activities. Activities have been divided into the following categories: AM (8-8:45 am), PM1 (3-3:45 pm), PM2 (4-4:45 pm), and PM3 (5-5:45 pm), so please choose activities based on the time that works best for you and your student. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any additional questions. Fill out this form if you are in need of scholarship assistance for virtual clubs.

Curbside Meal Pick-Up
Now Available!

Breakfast and lunch will be available to every child during Remote Learning. Meals may be pre-ordered (by Fridays) and picked up curbside for the week on Mondays at several locations. For more information and details, click HERE.
