Tearing Apart the Heavens:
Follow Me Sermon Series
Baptism of the Lord
Sunday, January 10, 2021 @ 11 am
Come and worship! We survived 2020, and while there are still lingering effects of the pandemic and the unrest, now is time to embrace a new possibility, a new hope. The heavens have been torn open. But this isn’t a threat; it’s a promise of something new, something better. As we begin a new year and a new season in the life of the church, we are invited to embrace the Light that has come and is coming into the world. We are invited to commit ourselves to a closer walk with Christ. We are invited to be renewed through the waters of baptism for our mission and ministry as followers of Jesus. Come and worship this Sunday at 11 o'clock. Come and worship Christ, the newborn King, the Light of the World!

Conference-Wide Leadership Training
Sunday, January 10, 2021
3:30-4:30pm – Virtual Workshop
4:30-5pm – Virtual Meeting with District Superintendent
You will have a chance to choose one of five workshops, depending on your leadership role or interests. Do you serve on more than one committee? No problem. We will record the sessions. Links to recordings will be emailed to you a week or two after the event. You will be able to access these online at your convenience. We hope you will take advantage of the collective wisdom of a phenomenal group of presenters who will equip you with the information you need for successful service to your local congregation.
Workshops will be held from 3:30-4:30 pm. Following the workshops, you can choose to join your District Superintendent on a separate Zoom link. This time (4:30-5 pm) will include an opportunity to meet your DS and to gain clarification and answers to any remaining questions. Zoom links and Zoom instructions will be emailed. To register for the training, click here.

ZOE Update
Get to know Eunice, Ashley, and Nokutenda
Thank you for your generous support of our Christmas Soup and Brownie Mix fundraiser. Through your efforts, we are sending almost $700 to support Eunice (21), Ashley (16), and Nokutenda (12): Manica Bridge, Zimbabwe.
Eunice purchased 34 chickens which produce about 5 crates of eggs per week, selling each crate of 30 eggs for $3. She is skilled making clay pots and calabashes which she sells for $1-$8. In her second year, she plans to expand her projects and diversify by breeding goats. ZOE recently had the opportunity to ask Eunice some questions:
- What makes you feel sad? Death of my parents, the suffering of orphans
- What makes you happy? Ball games, reading the Bible, and attending church services Eunice with her siblings and grandmother
- What happens in the community that you do not like? People who drink beer and shout at others, smoking, exploitation of children
- What is your dream for the future? To have many goats and chickens for income generation, to ensure that my siblings complete their education, and to provide enough food for my family at all times
- What will be your guiding principles to achieve your dream? Practice many vocational skills, spend more time doing my project, and expand my garden
