The Ace Program
Today we will be hearing from participants in the first of three youth programs the Exchange Club sponsors over the next three months. The ACE (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) Award recognizes Rome and Floyd County students who have had to overcome great physical, emotional, or social obstacles and are now eligible for high school graduation. The program recognizes high school students who have made drastic change in attitude and/or performance during their high school years. The ACE program has two main objectives: It encourages students to overcome their hardships and get back on track; it also recognizes students who are often overlooked for their accomplishments. This special recognition serves as a powerful example for ALL students that hard work and perseverance really do pay. Please give a warm welcome to our 2020 ACE Award contestants who will be introduced by their respective school's guidance counselors.

However, in recognition of the sponsorship by the Family Resource Center there will be a special award for family oriented poetry. Poetry with this orientation will also be included in the General and Youth categories.
Only one submission per poet will be accepted. A poet may submit up to four poems written in any style.
Poems should be single spaced, typed in 12 pt font, Times New Roman or similar font, with the title and the first line of the poem at the top of the page. No identifying information should be included on the same page as the poem. Each submission should include a brief cover letter with a few lines of biography as well as the names of all poems submitted. Judges will read all the poems “blind” then use the cover letters to determine the authors.
Contact information must be included: Name, address, phone and email (if available).
Previously written but unpublished poetry will be acceptable.
Manuscripts will not be returned.

Entries may be submitted by email attachment to: poetry@exchangeclubfrc.org OR sent via USPS to: The Exchange Club Family Resource Center, P.O. Box 168, Rome, GA 30162. Attn. Kathy Philips

Entries must be submitted between January 1 and March 31, 2020.

Contest results will be published on the Family Resource Center website www.exchangeclubfrc.org once all winners are notified.
Submission to the contest grants rights for a one-time publication in any anthology created to document this event. All contributing poets will receive a free copy of the book. (Further definition required)

Meal Policy
Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings. The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge.  If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal. The cost of the meal is $10 per meal and must be paid to the Treasurer or other officer at the time of the meeting. Money can also be placed in the Dues Box in the lobby.
