Creating a myUSCIS account for H-1B cap registration

Even if our office is going to be registering the H-1B cap-subject cases for your company, a representative of your company will be required to create a myUSCIS account on the USCIS web site.

This cannot be done before February 24, 2020. In fact, I recommend waiting until February 25, 2020 in the event that there is a delay in the USCIS making the necessary options available.

We are providing the instructions for creating a myUSCIS account in the attachment, which is a portion of the USCIS' own presentation on this subject.

Please take note of the following before creating your myUSCIS account:
  1. The account is tied to an email address and the email must belong to an individual.  You cannot use a general email to create the myUSCIS account.  So, [email protected] would not be an acceptable email address.
  2. If you already have a myUSCIS account, you will need to create a new one on or after February 24, 2020, which means that you will need a new, unique email address for that account.
  3. myUSCIS accounts use 2-factor authentication.  Of the three options provided for the second factor, choose email as the delivery mechanism for the the access code.  Do not specify a text message.  If the person who creates the account were to leave the company, another representative from your company should still be able to access the myUSCIS account through the departed employee's email account. If the departing employee specified text message to his/her cell phone, it may be impossible for anyone else at your organization to gain access to the myUSCIS account.
  4. DO NOT attempt to create the myUSCIS account until February 25, 2020.  If the USCIS delays implementation, we will send out another immigration alert advising you when you can create the myUSCIS account.
Please access the document below for complete instructions on creating your myUSCIS account.

If you have trouble accessing the instructions using the link above, this may be due to your corporate firewall settings.
