As Coronavirus Spreads, Prepare a Communicable Disease Plan

This week, Florida reported its first Coronavirus cases (in the Tampa Bay area).  Employers are asked to educate their workforces on how to prevent the spread of the virus and practice good hygiene. Coronavirus and the Workplace: What Employers Need To Know

Every employer should review the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) interim guidance for employers and businesses.  The CDC is based on what is currently known about the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). DOT Safety Sensitive Employees & CBD Use

The Department of Transportation's (DOT) recent notice   on the use of cannabidiol (CBD) products serves as a warning to employees in DOT-defined safety-sensitive positions.  This notice makes clear that CBD use does not excuse a positive drug screen and therefore safety-sensitive employees may want to be wary of using CBD products.  (read more) 
New, Updated model COBRA Notices 

R ecently, the Department of Labor released updated versions of its model COBRA General Notice and the model COBRA Election Notice. The new forms have an expiration date of January 31, 2023. Plan administrators must provide covered individuals with a general COBRA notice within 90 days after their group health plan coverage begins; Plan administrators must provide qualified beneficiaries with an election notice within 14 days after receiving notice of a qualifying event.
How to check if your Subcontractors have a workers' compensation policy? 

Did you know? The Florida Division of Workers' Compensation maintains several important databases.  A Florida contractor, or other business, has the ability to look up proof of coverage information, submit referrals for non-compliance and interact with the Construction Policy Tracking database.  Exemption data is also maintained and available.   The Construction Policy Tracking is an easy-to-use system will send contractors automatic electronic notification of any changes to their contractor's coverage status. The only action required of the contractor is to register and list the contractors for whom they would like to receive coverage notification.

The 2020 ACA Reporting Landscape for US Employers: What's New?
