Walsh Property Community Process
Your Input is Needed! The Town of Truro has committed to convene a representative citizen committee to engage a wide range of Truro residents and develop plans for the use of the Walsh property, which was authorized to be purchased by the Town for general municipal purposes. A draft process design for the Community Process for the Walsh Property Plan is available here and the Town is looking for your feedback on it. Please share your feedback through this survey.

Assistance in the form of grants may be available to help you pay your Property Taxes if you are Elderly or Disabled. The Town of Truro has a fund available to elderly and disabled residents to receive property tax assistance. Applications are due by December 27th, 2019.   More...
Outermost Contra Dance
All are welcome to come warm up by dancing to great traditional American and Celtic music and fun dances! Outermost Contra Dance is happening Friday, December 13th at Wellfleet Preservation Hall with live music, mixers and perhaps a square dance or two.   Potluck dinner 6pm, dance 7pm.
Contra dancing is the older cousin to the square dance. No fancy footwork needed - if you can walk, you can dance! The contra dance is family-friendly and welcomes dancers of all levels. Be sure to come early for the basic dance moves.      More...

Truro Receives $1.2 Million MassWorks Award
Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Mike Kennealy, and Undersecretary of Housing and Community Development Janelle Chan joined Truro Town Manager Rae Ann Palmer and other local leaders to announce a MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant of $1.2 million to extend water to Truro's 3.9-acre Cloverleaf parcel. The project will support a 40B housing project at that site, and unlock $14.2 million in private investment.    More...
Truro Historical Society 2019 Year in Review
2019 was a wonderful year for the Truro Historical Society! At the Highland House Museum, we welcomed our new Director, Lauren Kaufmann, and began the season with an exhibit honoring our Living Legacies. We celebrated the many new gifts of art received in recognition of our new climate-controlled storage area. Our final exhibit, a collaboration with the Center for Coastal Studies, entitled Rising Seas/Falling Dunes, focused on the effects of climate change to our vulnerable environment.  More...

In the event of an emergency...
In the event of an emergency, such as severe weather or a power outage, if a member of your household would require special assistance due to a health condition, please contact the Truro Council on Aging to be added to the Elders of Special Concern program. Participants will be contacted by the Council on Aging or the Truro Police Department to determine if they have adequate supplies in preparing for an emergency. If you live alone, are disabled, use oxygen or other special medical equipment please contact the Council on Aging at (508) 413-9508 to be added to this program. ALERTruro

Remembering Vice-Chair Maureen Burgess
The Town of Truro mourns the passing of Select Board Vice-Chair Maureen Burgess. Vice-Chair Burgess passed away on November 12, 2019. She served on the Select Board since 2014; and as part of her duties, was a liaison to nine town committees.  Also she volunteered with the International Fund for Animal Welfare and Cape Cod National Seashore. She loved flowers and animals. Vice-Chair Burgess' open-mindedness, diligence, and sense of humor will be missed. We will remember her unwavering dedication to her community, and wish peace and comfort to her loved ones and especially to her husband, Peter.
New COA Director Mary-Elizabeth Briscoe
The Town of Truro has a new Council on Aging Director! Mary-Elizabeth Briscoe will join our team on Monday, December 16, 2019. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with many years of experience managing programs and working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages. We invite the community to join us in welcoming Ms. Briscoe at a Meet and Greet on Tuesday, December 17 at noon at the Truro Community Center.
