HEY
GLOBE
COMMUNITY
This is the best resource for staying in the know.
Dear GLOBE Community,

You should have received a Reopening Update Message this morning from our Executive Director, Christi Elliott-Earby.

In light of the current data, The GLOBE Academy’s Reopening committee has decided that it is safest to continue with virtual instruction at this time. Unfortunately, COVID-19 cases have soared in DeKalb County in recent weeksand our medical experts are confident that we are not yet seeing the peak of holiday-associated COVID-19 cases.

While we are closely following DeKalb County School District’s planning, GLOBE’s plans for a return-to-campus will be based on the recommendations of our independently run reopening committee to meet the needs of our community and academic dual-language immersion model. Please continue to watch for communications to come directly from GLOBE about reopening and continued instructional plans.

The COVID Corner
For the past few months, we have used this special section to share updates from GLOBE's Reopening Committee on guidance to inform a safe return, and we will continue to address your questions and concerns here. GLOBE's COVID-19 tracker is updated each Wednesday at www.theglobeacademy.org. Please visit our site and click the graphic for weekly updates on the pandemic conditions with more detailed information about these data. If you have questions about GLOBE's Return-to-Campus Plan, please submit them here. If you haven’t seen a response to your question yet, stay tuned for upcoming newsletters.
Clean Hands Save Lives
Regular handwashing is one of the best ways to remove germs, avoid getting sick, and prevent the spread of germs to others. Whether you are at home, at work, traveling, or out in the community, handwashing with soap and water can protect you and your family.

Follow these five steps every time.
  • Wet your hands with clear running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
  • Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
  • Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
  • Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
  • Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
