We hope all of our students and families have a relaxing, restful and safe winter break. Enjoy your time together and we look forward to being back together in January.
December 21st and 22nd- Move to Distance Learning

We are temporarily moving all F2F students to distance learning for Monday December 21 and Tuesday December 22. These are regular school days and ALL students will be engaged in distance learning. Here is a link to the KMSD letter regarding these days. Please carefully review the KM Global distance learning expectations. With our recent move to distance learning prior to Thanksgiving, students should feel confident in making this transition.
Learning Environment Change Request
A link to a change request form will be shared via Infinite Campus January 4 and requests will be open through January 10.

If you plan to make a change, please consider the impact a potential quarantine might have on your family in the coming quarter/term and select the correct environment. Due to staffing needs and configurations:

  1. Changes at the elementary level will likely cause reassignment of your child’s teacher and class configuration, regardless of your family's decision. In addition, changes in either direction will not be honored after January 10.
  2. KM will not be able to honor changes at the middle and high school levels from distance learning to face-to-face learning after January 10.
  3. At the high-school level, selecting distance learning may alter your student’s term three course selections.
  4. The final opportunity to request a change will occur before the start of term four, which begins on March 30.

NOTE: This change request form is only necessary if you want to change your environment for the third quarter/term, which begins January 26.
Defense Schedule: January 13th - January 22nd
During final defenses in KM Global, students will be presenting their inquiry learning to a panel of teachers and community members. Due to the extensive nature of these individual presentations, there will be a modified schedule that will include mainly asynchronous distance learning, off-campus. This is a great time for students to focus on meeting their end of the semester goals and getting help from teachers. Students can also complete field work related to career goals, leadership development, or community service during this time.

KM Global will be moving to a distance learning format for defenses in order to minimize movement of students and to allow staff to conduct these individual student meetings. This means that all students will be distance learning during this week. Students should only be at school for face-to-face learning during their scheduled defense appointment, or if they need a learning space due to a legacy class and/or transportation issues. Defenses may also be completed virtually via Google Meet.

Teachers will also be hosting virtual workshops during this time to help students with their learning goals. Students are required to attend these workshops if requested by a teacher. More details will be shared on attendance expectations for this week in the near future.

KM GLOBAL INFORMATION NIGHTS
KM Global will be hosting information nights virtually on the dates listed below. These meetings are for students and families who are interested in attending KM Global for the 2021-2022 school year. Please spread the word if you know anyone who is interested in learning more about our school. For more information click HERE.

  • January 7th, 2021 from 6 until 7 p.m.

INQUIRY

Students are working on creating final products to show their learning for their semester long projects. After the break students will be presenting to their peers and preparing for their final defenses.
ATTENDANCE REMINDERS

Please continue to report student absences due to illness, vacation, appointments, etc. Parents should enter an absence into Infinite Campus or call the attendance line to report all absences.
ADOPT A FAMILY

KM Global and Interact partnered up to adopt a family for the holidays through the Christmas Clearing Counsel. Thank you to all who contributed as we were able to collect some amazing gifts for the family.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity, our freshmen students learned about the organization and their short-term and long-term needs. Students then developed prototypes of products and services that could help Habitat for Humanity. Both virtual and face-to-face students worked together to present to our special guest, Kelly Gerlach, Development Manager for Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County, who also met with students virtually throughout the project.
MyLC PARENT DIGEST REPORT
