Message From the Chapter President

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
Which, by the way, was NOT said by Albert Einstein! After Michael Becker, an editor at the Bozeman Daily Chronicle (a local paper in Montana), let the wrong version slide into an editorial, he did some research on his personal blog. Becker traced the original back to Rita Mae Brown, the mystery novelist. In her 1983 book "Sudden Death," she attributes the quote to a fictional "Jane Fulton," writing, "Unfortunately, Susan didn’t remember what Jane Fulton once said. 'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.'"
Well, I’m remembering this quote now. I have been saying for years, “I’m going to workout at home!” I have all the equipment – weights, thera-bands, Styrofoam rollers, even bought a spin bike! I’ve looked up exercise apps and YouTube class videos – ballet class, Zumba class, Yoga - you name it, I’ve looked for it.
Now that my health is suffering due to my procrastination and excuses – my triglycerides are high, I have osteopenia, and I’m 20-30 pounds overweight. Why in heavens name do I keep telling myself that I’m going to do this on my own at home! All of a sudden, about two weeks ago, I woke up.
I signed up for some ballroom dancing classes, I go Country Line Dancing with my boss and his wife, and I go walking everyday with another colleague in my office. Rather than counting on my “extensive” knowledge of nutrition, etc., I decided to meet with a nutritionist to see what I’m doing wrong. WRONG! I don’t do things wrong! I know everything there is to know about food. 😊 I see you all laughing. I’m making “dates” with other colleagues to go to the gym in our building – about 40 steps away – to work with weights and other bone building exercises.
Stop running in circles. Get curious. Explore! Try something new. It’s kind of fun!

Date: May 3, 2022
Location: Kulwicki Park
Invocation: Ranya Baldwin
What’s better than great people? How about great food? Maybe some philanthropic work?
Well that’s exactly what our May Membership Open House and Potluck was all about. We gathered at Kilwicki Park, welcomed guests, held a panel discussion to get to know EWI, provided items and stuffed 200+ snack bags benefitting LaCausa, heard from Sarah Smith, Dir. Of Early Education, from LaCausa and held a designer bag raffle.
What a night!

ASIST Awards Celebration
5:30 - 8:00 pm
FedEx Corporate Office
|
|
Every year, our philanthropic efforts allow us to award and celebrate three exceptional students. At our meeting, you'll get the chance to learn more about these remarkable, hard-working individuals and why we decided to award them with our ASIST scholarship.
This isn't the end of their journey. It is just the beginning, and we're so excited that we get to be a part of it.
Our speaker for the evening, Dr. Naydeen Gonzalez-De Jesus, comes to us from Milwaukee Area Technical College. She is their Executive Vice President of Student Success. She will discuss "Empowerment Through Education." This is sure to be an uplifting and enriching presentation and you won't want to miss it.
|
|
Don't forget to invite your executives to this event! We would love for them to experience this wonderful work that we do as a chapter.

DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR ITEM TO THE JUNE MEETING
The ASIST Scholarship committee is requesting items for gift bags for the 3 scholarship finalists. Items include company branded swag such as mugs, notebooks, and duffle bags. A note from Ellen Aumann's daughter, Mary
|
|
We wanted to let you know that Ellen Passed away peacefully late last night. She had a tough road these past two years with everything including the Cancer, but she approached it all with hope, understanding and grace. Her faith was always her guide and compass.
She so loved the EWI organization and all the good friends she met and had there. She was always a promoter of the organization and its people. She was so proud to be a part of EWI.
Please if you can, convey this information to the EWI group for us.
I will send you more information as we move forward with her service plans.
Take good care and God Bless
Mary Jordan
