What's Happening Now...
Road, Sidewalk and Pathway Construction
The City of Novi prides itself on maintaining open lines of communication and keeping community members apprised of the latest in road and
non-motorized construction projects.
The following information is intended to provide an overview of current projects.
Please note: All completion dates are merely estimates. Projects could extend beyond those dates due to unforeseen issues with the project and inclement weather.

Oakland County Transportation
Updates
RCOC
will be removing and replacing the concrete roadway at the intersection of 12 Mile and Novi Road. On Novi Road, the roadway will be replaced approximately 50 feet north of 12 Mile and approximately 250-feet south of 12 Mile. The project will also include sidewalk ramp and pedestrian signal upgrades. The project will occur in two stages. During Stage 1, the outside lane of 12 Mile will be open in each direction and only right turns will be allowed from southbound and northbound Novi Road. During Stage 2, one inside lane of 12 Mile will be open in each direction. Novi Road will be completely closed north and south of 12 Mile Road. Project will start on Monday, June 17. Traffic control and electronic message boards are already in place. Early on Monday morning, they will set up all the barrels for a traffic switch and begin sawcutting and removing the existing concrete.

RCOC will be doing pavement preventative maintenance on 10 Mile Road, from Meadowbrook to Pontiac Trail this summer. Project will involve spot milling of the existing asphalt at curb lines and entrance approaches and placing two-inches of asphalt pavement over top the entire roadway.
The segments of 10 Mile between Meadowbrook and Novi roads and Novi to Taft roads are nearly complete. Once done, they will head out to the Taft and Beck roads segment. They plan to continue west until all segments are complete.

RCOC

RCOC is replacing the existing culverts at two Seeley Drain crossings of Haggerty Road, north of 13 Mile Road and MacKenzie Drive. While under construction, Haggerty Road will be closed at the culvert locations. Project is expected to
start July 8.

City of Novi Projects
Rossdale Court is now complete and Woodside Court was recently poured and waiting on cure strength to fully reopen. Restoration on those streets will follow, shortly. Addington Lane is nearly complete. Work was expected to start on Cheyenne Drive this week. Cody Lane will follow closely behind Cheyenne.

Heatherbrae Way S and Siegal Drive/Court are now complete. Restoration, to include irrigation, will be ongoing over the next couple weeks. The final lift of asphalt was also placed on Singh Boulevard. Vero Court was expected to get its final lift this week as well. The contractor is still working to schedule the milling and paving of Anchorage Court and Crestwood Drive.

The first halves of panels on Carlisle Court, Waycroft Drive, Courtview Trail and Roxbury Drive have been completed. Crews are now starting removals on the second halves. Panels on the first halves of Cherry Hill Road and Park Ridge Court were also supposed to begin this week.

The contractor will continue to spray patch all the streets in the program this week and into the next. Chip and fog seal will follow shortly after this work is completed.

Even with all the rain, the contractor has made significant progress removing all the unsuitable soils and nearly half done with its replacement with good, road foundation soils. They have also completed nearly half of the steel sheeting wall along the north side of Crescent Boulevard and the Industrial Spur.

The City will be rehabbing Cabot Drive, from 12 Mile to 13 Mile Roads and Lewis Drive, from Cabot Drive to Haggerty Road. It will include the milling of the existing concrete road, fixing the existing concrete panel joints and topping the roadways with 3-inches of new asphalt pavement. Project is expected to
start July 15.
Estimated completion date: September 15, 2019
The contractor has several shafts constructed for proposed sanitary manholes along Nine Mile which has choked the roadway down to one lane in several areas. Area residents and motorists need to use caution when driving in these areas. Construction of the storm sewer network at Nine Mile and Garfield Roads has also begun which further complicates movement of vehicles in that area. Open cut sections, west of Garfield Road, are expected to begin in late June.

The City will be performing rehab on 30+ storm sewer manholes located within the South Lake Drive roadway from 13 Mile Road to West Park Drive. No detours will be used, but motorists can expect delays as the contractor moves along the roadway. Project is now expected to
start July 8.

The City will be doing preventative maintenance on three roadway bridges located on West Park Drive, between 12 Mile and West Road; Meadowbrook Road, between Chattman Drive and Nine Mile Road; and Cranbrooke Drive, between 10 Mile and Village Wood Road. Project is expected to
start September 1.

The City will be upgrading the traffic signals at 14 Mile and Haggerty Roads and Pontiac Trail and Beck Road. Each intersection will be retrofitted with new mast arms and LED signal heads. Also all legs will have updated pedestrian facilities to include new sidewalk ramps and push button crosswalk signals. Project is expected to
start July 1.

The wet spring conditions have made for slow progress on the ITC Corridor Trail from Nine Mile to 11 Mile Road. The boardwalk is nearing completion, which could happen by next week. The entire path from 10 Mile, south to the boardwalk also still needs to be cut.

In August 2012, Novi citizens overwhelmingly passed a road millage allowing for more than $5 million to be used in annual road and pathway investments. Funds will be used to maintain and improve neighborhood (subdivision/side streets) and major municipal roadways (mile roads, Beck Road, etc.), and to make sidewalk and pathway connections.
