KRSD School vacation is next week, April 25-29. The Library has Museum and Parks Passes to use!

The Annual Flea Market and Craft Fair at Town Hall on April 16 netted almost $900 for library use, from table fees, a raffle, bake sale/coffee table and sales by the Circle of Friends of the Library Thank you to all who helped, bought or sold!

Watch out for TICKS as you clear your garden or walk, esp. in grass or leaf litter.

The annual Children's Fishing Derby will be on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Children's Brook on Pumpkin Hill Rd. Children under 16 years of age can start registering at 6:30 am. The Derby is from 7 am to 11 am. Complimentary hot dog or hamburger, and a cold drink for all registered children. Cash prizes! WYSA opening day celebration for Baseball and Softball is back this year!
WYSA is looking for someone to come and offer face painting, and for raffle donations.
Date to be confirmed but possibly May 7 for this fun day for the whole family!
Earth Day/ Month and Volunteering
Join the Great Global Cleanup: April is "Earth Day/ Cleanup Month! When you are out walking, consider carrying a bag and gloves so you can pick up any trash you see.

The Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum in Warner will be opening for the season on May 1 and is looking for volunteers. Contact Barbara at: Volunteer@IndianMuseum.org, or call the museum at 603-456-2600.

Condolences to the family and friends of John V. Brannon Jr., who passed away April 15, 2022. https://www.tributearchive.com/obituaries/24591642/john-v-brannon-jr . John was an active volunteer for many organizations, including Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum and the Nature Discovery Center in Warner.

Warner Wildlife
Recently seen in Warner: Spotted Salamander (night time photo by Peter Ladd) and a busy beaver with a mallard companion (by Anonymous).

Arts and Museums
Spemki Nib8iwi - The Heavens in the Nighttime will be on Saturday, April 23 from 7-9 pm. This free program at Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum is in collaboration with the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center and will feature an Indigenous focus to star gazing. Dress for the weather and bring your own chairs. MKIM will provide hot beverages, s'mores ingredients, and the museum bathrooms will be open. Event Link

2022 Spring into Warner, will be held on Saturday, May 14, 9 am to 3 pm on Main Street in Warner (outdoors except for Museum visits). Artists and craftspeople, dancers, musicians, and other performers all welcome. Season's opening of Warner Area Farmer's Market on Town Hall lawn, Used book sale, Museum tours and Exhibits etc. Contact Warner Historical Society or Warner Area Farmer's Market for spaces at their locations, or Nancy Ladd at the Pillsbury Free Library for other Main Street spaces.

Nature Discovery Center clean-up day will be on Sat. May 21st at 1 pm. This museum needs a few people with brooms, dust rags, and dustpans to clean the outside surfaces of all glass cases, make sure all the lights are working (overhead, in the glass cases, etc.) and to sweep the floor.  Objects on top of cases need to be carefully dusted. Wicked Sweet Cakes And Treats bakery in the former Bradford Junction space on NH Rte 114 has been a huge success! Open Saturdays at 10 am until sold out ((all gone by noon last week!).
Lisa hopes to open the Cafe portion next month!

COVID News
Merrimack County is currently rated as LOW risk by the CDC County Check Tool (based on hospitalizations and deaths, not total cases). "People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask."

On the CDC covid-19 data tracker site https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view 8 of 10 NH Counties are back up to MEDIUM Community Transmission risk. Merrimack county is still at " Low."

Warner's new cases reported: 0 reported since last Thursday, 0 active as of 04/21/22. Total so far 624. www.wmur.com/article/covid-19-cases-nh-town/37155089#. Note positive Home tests are not included.

Federal mask mandates for public transportation (bus, train, air) has been struck down by a Florida Federal judge as overreach, just before an extension began.
Free N95 masks are available at some major pharmacies, 3 per visit.

CDC guidelines for isolation and quarantine have big changes:

If you have health insurance through an employer or Marketplace, your insurance will pay you back for 8 at-⁠home tests each month for each person on your plan.
More about insurance reimbursement. In NH, pop-up testing sites closed in March but you can arrange for a test through your Doctor's office.
FREE at- home rapid tests available from https://www.covidtests.gov/ are still available. A second order is allowed. Tests can also be bought at NH Liquor stores.

Vaccination data:
Warner: 67.1% fully vaccinated, 75.1% at least one dose.
Merrimack County (CDC) over age 5: 72.1% fully vaccinated, 90.9% at least 1 dose.

To get a COVID-19 vaccine: vaccines.nh.gov or call 211. Vaccinations for Covid-19 are FREE, and available for ages 5 and up. Second boosters available for ages 50+.
NH fixed vaccination sites include Concord, 8 am to 2 pm every day . https://convenientmd.com/vaccine/concord/ You can also schedule a vaccine through your doctor's office.
Helping Hands
Warner Connects NH Food Pantry and Community Resource Center
A reminder that Warner residents may come to the Food Pantry weekly for fresh produce and other staples, at the rear of the Warner Community Center 49 W. Main St. Hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday - Thursday or by appointment. Call 603-456-2053

The Food Pantry is in need of pet food and treats for dogs and cats. Supply chain issues have hit the usual SPCA donation stream. Donation drop-off in the Food Pantry tent (49 W. Main Street) or at the Market Basket collection bin.

Family Closet Thrift Boutique is open Wednesdays and Saturdays 10 am - 4 pm
Spring and Summer Donations are now being accepted. Family Closet is at 49 W.Main Street in the Warner Community Center, only 2 blocks from the Town Hall. All proceeds support Warner Connects Food Pantry and Resource Center

Remember the Andy Griffith Show? Remember Sheriff Andy Taylor and his little son Opie (Ron Howard), who carried a fishing pole and always said, "Gee, Paw"? The Opie role was just the beginning of a long and prosperous entertainment career.

Actor Ron Howard went on to star in the tv sitcom "Happy Days" then became a fabulous director and producer, leaving his own unique stamp on modern American film.
A Beautiful Mind garnered Academy Awards for Best Producer and Best Picture for Howard.. The Baba Yaga play is only 2 weeks away, May 7, 4 pm in the Warner Town Hall! The "entrance fee" will be a donation to the food pantry. (Non-perishable foods, toiletries, pet foods, or money)

Happy Earth day to everyone! (Friday, April 22nd) Miss Sue read stories on Thursday about trees, and we are all ready to go hug the trees!
Storytimes with Miss Sue, every Thursday at 10:30 am - stories, songs, fingerplays, and a craft. It's back to being held in the Children's room.

"Friendship soup in a jar" kits for everyone to take home, as well as for the food pantry were made at the last craft day!! Thank you to Carol Conforti-Adams for getting the grant to sponsor this event.

Library News
Covid protocols at the Library: We are no longer holding returned items in quarantine, so they can be returned inside when we are open, instead of placing them in the Book Drop slot outside. Masks are now optional but encouraged, during library visits unless/ until Covid numbers rise again. Curbside pickup is an option for anyone.
Thanks for helping us provide safe space for our most vulnerable residents, of all ages!
Library Trustee committees meetings include the Monthly Board Meeting on the third Tuesday of each month (at 6:30 pm, in person now), and various Committee meetings, some that meet monthly, vary in time.
Trustee meetings are published 24-48 hours in advance on the Warner Events Calendar. Approved minutes are published on the Trustee Meetings page.
